We took others' advice and went at high tide - smart move! This park is VERY accessible... the 'reef' about 50 feet off shore. The rest is sandy bottom. You'll see typical tropical fish around the coral heads, and reports of rays and manatees if you are lucky. The park is clean with showers and bathrooms. There's a children's playground and BBQ grills for the partiers. We're locals and are disappointed it's taken us 2+ years to find this jewel -- we'll go back for sure.

I lived in Boca Raton for about 2 years before I discovered Red Reef Park. I'm sorry it took me this long! I LOVE this place. You can see so many different types of fish right off the shore. I get nervous going out too deep in the ocean but here you don't have to worry about that. I highly recommend this to anyone who either lives in the area or is planning to visit. I can't wait to go back this weekend...and the next...and the next. Enjoy! :)

My family and I went to Boca Raton to snorkel. We choose this beach because my son’s fiancée had never been snorkeling and I had heard this was very easy and great for beginners. It was indeed. It is a great place for children to snorkel. My husband and I are avid snorkelers and we enjoyed it also. The beach is very pretty. No chairs or umbrellas for rent. The beach has a man made reef that attracts lots of fish. We saw a 4 foot barracuda while snorkeling and several parrot fish. There are enough rocks that it was not crowded with people and you can get in and out of the water very very easy. It would be best to snorkel at high tide. We were there at low tide so the water for most of the reef was less than 5 feet deep. I recommend this beach for a relaxing day at the beach. The park only cost $18 per car for admission, so it is much more affordable then a snorkeling excursions at Key Largo. You can leave for lunch and come back. The town of Boca Raton is very attractive and there are lots of small places to eat lunch. There are also barbeque grills for cooking.
