We eat vegan at home but don't frequent many vegan-only restaurants (had been once to Sublime in Ft Lauderdale and found it to be okay). By the way, we are real food people, and only went vegan a couple of years ago - before that were longtime carnivore foodies. Went tonight to Darbster for the first time and was very pleased! The portions are large (not outrageously huge, but definitely plenty) and food fresh, unique but not weird, and very good quality. Ordered the French Onion soup (tasted pretty authentic), palm cake appetizer (big and delicious with a little kick), cheeseburger and fries (very good all around) quinoa loaf (also good, big portion and the gravy was delicious), and brownie a la mode (yum! plenty for two).
Everything had a nice texture, taste, and appearance. The waiter was friendly and attentive and the place was pretty busy for 9pm on a Sunday. Inside is comfortable and outside is a very pretty garden area.
As for the prices, I thought it was fairly priced considering everything is vegan and pretty much a specialty item. I saw some reviews saying that it hurt people's wallets, but we had an appetizer, soup, two entrees, and a dessert for $50. Not too bad and remember, people, things like vegan mayonnaise and cheese aren't sold in big cheap vats!
Will definitely go back to try more things on the menu, especially the desserts!
