“Get away to Jamaica in Boca!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

My wife and I were in town for a wedding. We knew that much of the food associated with the wedding would be very traditional. We read Trip Advisor and found Rock Steady Jamaican Bistro which was very close to where we were staying. What an awesome find! This small, clean, homey restaurant is a must visit! We told our server (who was awesome, so friendly and knowledgeable) that we wanted to try truly authentic Jamaican food and we would trust her recommendations. She suggested a sampler platter of jerk chicken, curry chicken, and brown stew chicken as one entree and the ackee and salt fish cod as the other. Both were fresh and delicious. The owner came over to meet us and explained his cooking philosophy which exactly mirrored my wife's view. Everything fresh, organic, and sustainable! Desert was not actually on the menu but it was out of this world. We shared a bread pudding that would rival any 5 star restaurant in New Orleans and also had a jerk ice cream unlike any thing I have ever tasted, sweet and spicey and just plain fabulous. This places ROCKS big time! Prices are reasonable, service is phenominal. On weekends there is live music. GO....what are ya waitin for man?

“Great lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

Saw new Rocksteady driving by and checked it out. Great lunch deal, jerk chicken, brown stew chicken or curry chicken and 2 sides $7.95. Excellent jerk chicken and curry chicken. I believe there are at least two in Boca Raton and another on being built. I definitely recommend this place. Very nice staff and nice atmosphere.

“WOW Great Jamaican Bistro”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

Excellent and Authentic Island Cuisine.
Food:
The food is wonderful! Excellent flavor never overbearing. The owner has a very holistic view in cooking and preparing his food; he says"If I cant pronounce it, I don't cook with it." All of the flavor inside each dish seems to come more from the ingredients. I asked the waiter about how they prepared the wonderful soup I ordered, and he was proud to say that they concentrate daily on great ingredients and no artificial flavors. He also talked about how they intentionally use no oils in there preparation. The menu is also has a great organic selection.
Price:
Great servings, Great flavor, Clean food, $8 - 13. In my opinion the price could be higher on the presentation alone.
Environment:
In shopping plaza
The inside is transformed, someone id very into the rustic theme from leather table covers and tree trunk candle holders. Rustic celling lights over the tucked bar area. Bob marly painting with authentic Jamaican music playing.
Choice: Good choice for first timer is the 'chicken soup' and 'Jerk chicken salad', have a home brew or a champagne cola,(by the way his sodas are in the glass bottles, no fountain)

“great little find, something different”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Normally, you might not associate Boca and Jamaican cuisine. But when you tire of eating at French bistros and oh-so-cute places, take a short drive up Federal.

We came here on a total whim but were very pleasantly surprised. I had not eaten Jamaican food for several years, but Rocksteady was gourmet Jamaican cuisine.

Crabcakes of pure crab. Jerked Lobster was delicious. A vegetarian Rasta Roll of tasty stewed greens in mini burritos. For lovers of "heat" they have the obligatory dishes with Scotch Bonnet peppers.

Do not be put off by the look. The quality of the chef's creations exceeds its look or location. It's a small, simply furnished restaurant in a typical US1 shopping plaza. Parking is tight (we parked in the next set of shops to the north).

The service was friendly and attentive. However, the food is all carefully prepared to order, as they warn on the menu, so be prepared for a leisurely pace to the meal with dishes arriving as they are ready for presentation.

We will definitely return on our next trip to Boca.

“Good find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

Looking for a different local place to eat & we are so happy we dined here this evening. A small restaurant that is very well done, nice art and immaculately clean. We just had to order a variety of dishes from the menu in order to realy experience it. Our server was very knowledgeble about the cuisine...we really enjoyed everything that we ordered & it was very unusual for us to finish 2 apps & 2 entree's...the only take home was the bread pudding because we just couldn't eat another bite. The chef came out at one point to check on us, I just love that! We will be back again, and again to this neat and delish restaurant.
