You can't go wrong with a reservation at Lucca while staying at the Boca Raton Club and Resort. Lucca is Italian food done right ... the freshest ingredients, a varied menu and attentive staff. Inside, it looks like something from Venice with ornate stone window trim and floor to ceiling windows. There is an open kitchen and the seating gives you some good opportunities for people watching.
I was bummed they took my favorite dish off the menu, which was a spaghetti with clams and crumbled sausage. There was something similar and the chef had no problem crumbling some sausge into the dish for me.
What I like most about the concept of this restaurant is that you can go with the small portion style of ordering ... or for an entree. I am more of a small plate person, so I had the eggplant rollatini appetizer (a rolled up eggplant lasagna-like thing) and a small pasta with clams which filled me up. However, if I wanted a veal parmesean or a steak ... those are available as well.
The wine list is good ... dessert list is a pass. Nothing really struck me as amazing and the Tiramisu was blah. (gelato was not made in-house according to the waitor)
The staff is really good and go out of their way to help you through the menu and are always there to fill up a water glass or check in without being overbearing. A good waitstaff really makes a meal ... and I felt that this staff was top notch.
I'd recommend trying it if you are at the Boca Resort. You can do a light dinner here or a heavy one with the way the menu is designed and the prices aren't that bad for the Boca Resort.
