“Excellent restaurant in unlikely location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

From the outside in a Publix and Walgreens shopping center you wouldn't expect this attractively appointed restaurant. Food was uniformly excellent and reasonably priced at $42 for 3 courses (with up-charges for a few choices). The pate appetizer was excellent and a very large portion. Crab tower was also excellent. Main courses we liked: scallops, short ribs, wiener schnitzel. Reasonably priced wine list and very helpful sommelier. When wine we chose wasn't available, he was very apologetic and suggested another wine that we thought was excellent.

“Overrated and Overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

Visited this restaurant on March 6, 2013. Seven people had good drinks at the bar. When seated for our 7:00 reservation, the waitress expressed her "disappointment" that we didn't keep the bar bill on her tab! Service was slow. The waitress pushed to have everyone order from the prix fixe menu (to increase her tip). I shared the short rib dish with a friend and noticed a $5 share charge for plating. I was handed a plate and expected to divy up the dish myself! The duck was overdone. The rack of lamb was tasteless. The bouillabaisse looked good, but at $41 on the prix fixe, it should have been. The Dover Sole on the prix fixe was an additional $6. Nothing was outstanding about this place - especially considering the waitress' attitude and the high prices. I would not recommend Josef's Tabla.

“Surprisingly Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

In a shopping center with several other restos. You don’t come here for the scenery.

A very nice, well-appointed room, set off by draperies and two paintings by Klimt. Excellent service. First-class cooking. A wine list that is superior to most in the area. Very reasonable prices.

$41.95 for a 3-course, prix fixe menu.

My Lady Wife had the lobster bisque (better than on the MS Prinsendam), the whole lobster and the gelato dessert (one serving of dark chocolate, one of pistachio and one of lobster sorbet). \

I had the house-made paté, corvina topped with shrimp and crab with a beurre blanc, and the apfel strudel. The latter being a deconstructed work that was better than what Grandma used to make.

A glass of Gruner Veltner to go with the bisque and one of Rosso de Montepulciano with the pate and an Aligoté to accompany the mains were all very good.

Very highly recommended.

(PS, I was kidding about the lobster sorbet)

“BEST EVENING IN ALL RESPECTS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013 via mobile

From the warm welcome to the amazing friendly and helpful service to the beautiful permanent candles on all the tables...and we did not talk about the food.
We chose the complete meal and ordered Calameri and grilled vegetables. Unbelievable tastes to start. The glasses of wine were perfect.
The lobster was a special and once again was perfect.
The Wiener Shnitzel was great and the red cabbage an amazing taste.
And then the apple strudel for desert included. The Chef wrote Happy Birthday in Chocalate when told of the occasion at the last minute.
We met two tables of friends during the meal. This is a winner, a real best in Boca....enjoy

“OUTSTANDING”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

This establishment rates five stars in every category. There are many upscale restaurants in Boca Raton but few are worth the price. This one is. The food has a wonderful European flair and the portions are huge. The ambience and the service are tops. The diner is treated like a valued guest by a very professional staff and the owner is present to chat with the diners.
From the time you arrive and are greeted by Andrew, the maitre d' this is truly a dining experience. Don't miss this one if you are in Boca and want a supreme dining experience.
