“The buffet for people who hate buffets”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

I hate buffets....luke warm food, the person in front of you takes the last piece of the only thing you thought would be good, etc, etc, etc. Well you are in for a great surprise when you go to Shinju. You won't be subject to any of that. Fresh and fast should be their tagline.

Walk through the door and your are pleasantly greeted and shown to a table where you first order drinks and then head to the buffet lines. There are multiple stations...sushi, sashimi, salads, hibachi grill, ice cream and more. The food is constantly fresh as the turnover is very quick. Shrimp, mussels, oysters (on weekends),many different varieties of sushi including a few I never saw before. There is also a good selection of cooked to order foods (stir frys, hibachi grilled and more) for those that are less adventurous. You won't be disappointed.

NOTE: Don't be surprised to wait for a parking space if you get there too late (for FL dining that means 6pm). The parking lot is very big but it fills up quickly.

“Fresh sushi”

Great sushi buffet place, there's so many different types of food to choose from! They have really fresh sashimi. You must get there by 6 pm, otherwise you will have wait at least an hour.

“fine boca japanese buffet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Have dined in the Shinju Japanese buffet 5 or 6 times. The food on the buffet is of excellent quality, particularly the shellfish. On weekends, oysters and clams are available--and they are fresh and delicious. The shrimp and mussels are also very good. The staff keeps bringing out more and keeps them nice and cold on ice. Many, many types of of sushi are available--they are tasty and well prepared. There is hot food too--chinese spare ribs, fried rice, lo mein, chicken, pork and beef in various sauces. There is also a hibachi grill. Desserts are basic and decent--ice cream, fruit. etc. Service is solid as the wait staff does a good job of clearing dishes after each course is eaten. You have to get to Shinju early as it crowds up after 7pm and there are long lines of people waiting to get in the restaurant. Prices are moderate--$2.00 higher on weekends. It is a fine addition to the restaurants in Boca Raton.

“Great sushi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

Sushi and food were excellent. We arrived a few minutes before 5 on a Sunday and were surprised there were so many cars there already. Within a half hour there was a line to get in.the food was tasty and kept coming. Serving dishes were never empty. Even though it was crowded, there wasn't any problem getting food. There was a large variety of sushi and nice variety of Chinese. There was also a Mongolian grill available. A little something for everyone.

“Beware of this Japanese Buffet”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

Dined at this restaurant on Feb 12, 2013. The sushi on the buffet table appeared dried out and unappealing. In the hot buffet I picked shrimp tempura. When I reached my table and tasted it was horrible and besides was cold. My wife drew this to the attention of the manager. She replied that we were the first person to complain that the items were cold. Additionally she offered to have new items cooked and placed in the buffet area. A few minutes later we went up to the buffet and put hot items on our plate. When I got back to the table the items were hot but horrible tasting. Imagine shrimp tempura that was packed with a flour tasting breading.

I had buttered salmon that was the only item that one could swallow.
The dessert table is just as bad, every one of the pastry items was frozen and horrible tasting.

Beware if you are in the Boca Raton area, cross this restaurant off your list. Its not only a bad restaurant but certainly no bargain in price.

The manager appeared to careless regarding our comments on the quality of the food.
