I just returned from a stay at the Boca Fairfield and was pleased. It was an overnight trip for my daughter to look at a college and we didn't want to pay the outrageous Boca "beach resort" fees and this hotel is very close to EVERYTHING.
You WILL need a rental car of course, but once you have that, there really is nothing out of close proximity to this hotel. Rt 95 is to the left, off the access road the hotel is on and there are TONS of restaurants and shopping malls there. Butts Road is about 3 miles from the hotel and there is a huge mall and restaurant complex there.
Leaving the hotel and going to the right will take you to Military Trail and Lynn U and the Palmetto Park Rd which leads to the heart of Boca and the beach. All of this within 5 miles.
At check-in we were greeted by the very friendly sales director Theresa. The room was above average for clean. A dehumidifier was running in the room, a plus for the humid conditions. The air conditioning was adequate but never really cold. (Of course, coming from PA, cold means realllllly COLD to us!)
One thing...the hot water took almost SIX minutes to heat up in the shower! It was so long, we timed it! Once it was hot, it was ok and held out, it was just weird how long it took.
We had a room at the end of the hall near the stairwell. STAY AWAY FROM THIS! The slamming door was so loud. We thought it was a plus to be away from the elevator, but the door was so much worse. It was opened and slammed all through the night.
The breakfast was good and the staff maintaining it was so friendly and concientious. There is free wireless and a computer near the registration desk that you can use if you don't have a laptop.
I travel a lot and I must say that this hotel had the cleanest pool and spa I have ever seen. No one was in it, but it was crystal clear and no crud floating in it. The pool area is very, very nice.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again, mainly because the staff was so great. My daughter did lose her iPod and we know it was in the hotel somewhere, but that was her fault, not the hotel's. They sent an executive housecleaner to look for it, but by then it was certainly long gone.
If my daughter decides to go to Lynn University, we will most certainly stay at the Fairfield when we visit her.
