“Decent Enough, But Needs a Little Help”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

Ok, so I came here with my young son to visit a friend in the area, and we didn't plan to do anything much but sleep here. The pool area was lovely. The room was a nice setup and had great amenities of a fridge and microwave and living area, but it looked "tired" and old, in need of some basic maintenance/update. Beds and bathroom were clean. The front desk help was great at check in, but when we checked out to catch an early flight, we had to wait over 20 minutes. When he returned he apologized and said he was the only one there and had to set up breakfast. The sign should have indicated that and where to find him, instead of "be right back". Overall a pleasant stay, but the hotel definitely looked like it had seen better days and was light on staff.

The grounds are lovely but the hotel is a big disappointment. Is has not been kept up but the main problem is the lack of customer service at this hotel. We had a spacious king suite, with sitting area and TV in separate room.
The main problem was that the staff is extremely STINGY with supplies at every turn! We were given ONE Washcloth for two people for two days in a row ( even though I complained and requested two daily) and the last day we received NO WASHCLOTHES at all. Of the three lightbulbs above the sink, two were burned out. When I requested they be replaced, they replaced ONE and did not replace the other. Go figure.
The mattress was very soft and we rolled to the center. Furniture was old in sitting area. No lightbulbs in any of the lamps.
The breakfast room was spacious but not well lighted. There was NO attendant, so each morning they ran out of cream cheese for the bagels, plastic silverware and other essentials.
The pool area was lovely, but the hot tub was broken.
Repeated requests to both desk staff and housekeeping made no difference and were ignored.
We were very frustrated. Each night as we came in, we requested washcloths. They ran out at the desk and took about 20 min. for the desk staff to leave and retrieve some. They said everyone was asking for them ( wonder why they didn't question that?). We travel to this area often, but hope not to get stuck here again, just because it is not worth the total frustation.

Room Tip: king suite is spacious but this hotel is not recommended.

I actually work right next to this hotel and ever since it closed from a Doubletree I thought it was closed. I guess it does rent some rooms out. The place sat empty for several years. You can tell it was once a nice place, but again..it's been empty and unattented for years. Large rooms, but yes there seems to be water damage almost everywhere. Hotel staff was unfriendly and even turned people away when there were rooms available online. I would def stay across the street at the Embassy if you are in that area.

As some have indicated very tired hotel and the ceiling is leaking badly when it rains. All my belongings came wet after a strong rain as the water was leaking from the ceiling or floor above. Tried to get the hotel to pay for the cleaning and drying of my clothes but the young hotel manager refused to pay. He offered us to move to other rooms but the smell was so bad that we refused to move. Asked him to have someone come and clean the carpet which was all wet but he did not listen to me.

Also, if ever you decide to go there make sure that you do not get room 313 has the King size bed is horrible.

I will not talk about the breakfast, there is enough on this site to let you know that it is not great.

Second but last visit to the Guest suite. Last time I was here at least the beds were comfy.

Room Tip: Don't go in room 313.

Too bad that there isn't a catagory called the Worst Motel I've Ever Stayed In. There was a terrible smell in the room, moldy with a strong pungent twist. I had no choice but to stay as it was way late. I got up too early for the breakfast place to open, went back to the room and made a u-turn as the smell had gotten worse! The "Deluxe" breakfast was sparse ...and bad, and that is a compliment. Do yourself a favor and spend a few more bucks accross the street at Embassy Suites.

Room Tip: Go to another motel.

Considering the breakfast is described as "deluxe" I think it needs to be pointed out that it is the exact opposite of this. There was a very limited choice of either bagels / bread with butter and "boiled" eggs, which were floating in unappealing murky water and were so overcooked they crumbled.

However, apart from the breakfast, the staff were generally helpful and pleasant, the room was a good size with clean and very soft beds.

The hotel is clean but tired. They need to upgrade the rooms. Funiture is old Chair cushion was ripped. The staff was excellent. The breakfast was ok. Hard boiled eggs every day was a little much.
