“Great property but needs updating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

I have mixed thoughts on this property. Like other high end resorts, the main building is very nice and ornate. I actually stayed in the bungalows - not by choice. You had to take a shuttle between those unit and the main building. The room itself was very large but needed updating. The carpet had stains which was a turn off. The room itself was clean but I guess I expected more from a Waldorf.

The rooms were noisy, old and run down, and the bathrooms the size of a Water Closet. We had front rooms overlooking the hotel entrance and were kept up all three nights. People came through the front entrance drunk and loud all three nights. The front desk people were rude when we wanted to confirm our late check out, and the only saving grace was the manager on site was truly wonderful. Our last night there was a domestic violence incident in the room next to ours. We had to call security 2x, and the screaming went on from 1-5 am. That gives you an idea on the quality of guest checking in here. In hindsight, we should have called the police. We will never go back, even the beach chairs were cheap and the pool staff rude and arrogant. We were glad to leave.

Room Tip: If you are inclined to stay here make 100% certain you stay in the yacht club and not the old part o...

Thank you for your review of your past stay at our hotel. I am deeply sorry for the noise level disturbances during your stay, and I have shared your review with our security team to ensure that work to actively address this in the future. We are also addressing the poor service and will offer additional training opportunities to ensure all of our guests find the outstanding experiences they have come to expect from our brand. The last thing we would want to do is lose a valuable guest. I appreciate your feedback and do hope you will give us another opportunity to regain your confidence.

Sincerely,
Peter J. Serena

The service is excellent and if you stay at the beach club the facilities are fantastic. Avoide Cloister rooms as they are very dated, worn and do not rise to the level of the type of room one would expect at the prices they are charging.

The hotel brings a combination of modern day amenities with old world charm and service. Explore the property, there is great art work everywhere. The views from the rooms are wonderful. We stayed at the yacht club and enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the yachts pull in and out of their slips. The hotel is worth the splurge in the budget.

We enjoyed our stay here, but the hotel certainly isn't at the "Waldorf" level. The architecture and landscaping of this property is absolutely beautiful. Our room (a deluxe room in the cloisters) was so-so. The furnishings were attractive, but there was visible dust in some areas. Also, the crib they gave us for our baby was VERY old/dated/worn. The service was also below expectations: there was apparently no turn-down service, and staff members were slow to help at times.

The Beach Club property, where we spent most of our time, was AMAZING. Great pools and beach. Service was great, and the food/drinks were good. However, the "continuous shuttle" running from the Resort to the Beach Club was often nowhere to be found for extended periods of time.

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience at our hotel. I assure you that the problems you mentioned with poor service and cleanliness issues have been addressed and I regret any disappointment. We're so pleased to hear that the Beach Club was enjoyable and service levels were satisfactory. We appreciate that you chose to stay with us and for alerting us to your concerns. We hope you will give our hotel a second chance if you return to the area.

Stayed here for 2 nights after SoBe Food & Wine Festival for some rest and relaxation. Facilities were wonderful. Service very attentive, especially for breakfast; one of the best buffets ever (we're not buffet fans). We stayed in the tower and the rooms were spacious with lovely views. Stay on the highest floor you can get! Both pools were really nice, however the beach pool closed at 4:00 on the day we were there because of a party, so that was not so great, although we actually didn't leave til 4:30 and no one was pushing us to leave so that's a plus! Played golf on the resort course which is very pretty, and paired up with members who knew the course so that was helpful. Rental clubs were good. Try to book a package for the best value, otherwise food & drinks are pricey.

Room Tip: highest floors are best in tower

My family had the stay of a lifetime at this wonderful resort! The views from the Tower Suites were magnificent and breathtaking. We enjoyed the beach, inlet, property and intracoastal waterway views so much, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast from room service the last morning of our stay.

All the restaurant meals were a work of art and extremely enjoyable. Our family favorite was the lemon blueberry pancakes served via room service. You may be hooked for life, if you try these glorious cakes!

We loved walking and experiencing all the resort amenities, but the best part of our trip was the incredibly kind, genuine, helpful, and professional staff. It is through these daily interactions my family experienced these "WOW!" services. From Chris and Amy at the front desk, Chad our bellman, Travis at the pool, Susan in event services, and a host of waiters and waitresses, we were extremely well cared for. I would describe our stay at this resort as perfect, mainly because of the exceptional staff and their hospitality. Thank you to all that made our stay so special! Your all are outstanding in your craft!

Room Tip: Loved the Tower Suites!
