“It's a definite repeat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

The Gasparilla Inn was wonderful! We stayed in one of the cottages . The room was spacious, bright, cheery, and very clean! The beds were comfy. We had a larger cottage room, which included a small entry area with table and chairs, refrigerator , and microwave. The a/c was perfect. The grounds beautiful. The pool and beach club were great. Food was also good. Tate island of Boca Grande is completely walkable. However , if you didn't want to walk the Inn's bell men will take you anywhere by golf cart. The golf course was terrific. Very professional. The entire staff that we ran into couldn't have been more friendlier, respectful, and so polite

Room Tip: Go with the larger room in the cottages

I loved everything about this place. We stayed in a very comfortable cottage beautifully decorated with white wicker, beadboard, trellis patterned carpeting, and tropical pictures and the beds were very comfortable. The century old inn is a stately pale yellow fortress from the past with delightful shops, beautiful sitting areas, a lively bar, and a gorgeous dining room. Service was very welcoming and professional. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was tropical island perfection. The breakfast buffet was superb. We also liked the Pink Elephant but be sure to make reservations in advance. The golf course was a lot of fun with beautiful views of the bay, good practice facilities, and challenging greens. We brought our dog and spent a lot of time walking on the beach, collecting shells and exploring Boca Grande. SInce our visit was at the end of April, it was very quiet. Not sure what it is like during the height of the season. We hope to return and next time, we will stay longer.

We just returned from a trip to this Inn. Unfortunately it was not up to the standards we had hoped for and read about.

The front service staff had a ATTITUDE, like we were doing them a favor by staying there. Strike One

When we got to our cottage room (not an entire cottage as their web site leads you to believe), the room was extremely small and HOT. The thermostat was definitely broken because it said the room was 70 degrees but was must closer to 76 and it was 96 degrees out. Strike two. The inn called a maintenance man and said that was a low as the AC went and we would have to live with it.

In the meantime, I called in advance of our arrival, gave them the date of our reservation, and asked for a reservation for the main dining room and was told it would be no problem just ask when we checked. I did ask and was told it was closed for a private party and no reservations would being taken. Strike three.

The forth and final strike was, yes, it was nice to have REAL glass glasses to drink from but it would have been better if they weren't chipped so we didn't cut our mouth. When I mentioned this at check out (along with the cleanliness of the bathroom; the wall between the sink and the mirror was dirty with old stains and toothpaste) the reply given to me was """would like to fill out a comment card".

Save your money, go the the inlet inn down the street about 3 blocks, its about $150.00 per night cheaper the rooms bigger, ac works and room cleaner ( our inlaws stayed so we saw their room) and VISIT the amenities at the actual Gasparilla

Truly a disappointment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Imagine walking through a time portal to old Florida where folks were genteel manners flourished service prevailed relaxation resounded. You would begin to envision the atmosphere at the Gasparilla Inn at Boca Grande. We love staying at the cottages where you can park your golf cart outside and head out for a day at the beach or pool side at the resort's beach club. The food is par excellence and the staff very professional and accommodating. High recommendation.

We are lucky enough to be having our wedding at the Gasparilla Inn in Boca Grande this fall. We traveled down to meet with everyone and absolutely love the history and old style traditions of the place. The staff are great, the rooms gorgeous and the front porch is perfect for relaxing.

Room Tip: 3 rooms have on-suite porches, but book early. The Inn closes for August and September – reopens in...

The hotel is beautiful, and the staff is great, but if you are looking for a beach vacation this would not be my first recommendation. The rooms do not have balcony's and you can not see the beach/ocean from your room. The pool/ beach club is about 3 blocks away which isn't a huge deal, but still inconvenient to have to get a bellman to run you back and forth in the golf carts. It may be walking distance, but when it is 90+ degrees not a great walk. The pool and beach are really nice, but not very service oriented. The pool does not have umbrellas if you want some shade and no tables for the lounge chairs so you have to set your drinks and other items on the ground which is sandy from the beach. The first day we were there, no servers around the pool to take drink orders and the next day we saw 1. They could make a lot more $$ if they provided this service properly. The beach club restaurant does not open until 11:30 and you have to go in and order your own food - I expected to be waited on since they add 18% service charge automatically to everything. The food and drinks were very good. I rated the hotel very good, but the beach club only rates only average.

My in-laws celebrated their 50th anniversary in April and a year ago we decided that the adult children and their spouses/significant others would go to Gasparilla and celebrate with them. We had a FABULOUS stay!

All 4 couples stayed in one of the cottages on site. There were 4 individual rooms connected via hallways for privacy leading into a shared common area or large family room. The "family room" (for lack of a better term) had it's own covered porch with rocking chairs and a dining table and chairs. AND each guest room had their own covered porch, bistro table and chairs and coffee maker and mini refrigerators.

We enjoyed the privacy of each of our rooms, yet really enjoyed being able to gather together in an area without bothering other resort guests we didn't know. Our family tends to get loud! :)

We were disappointed that the main dining room was booked for a wedding when we booked our resort reservations. They suggested reserving one of the private dining rooms for my in-laws' anniversary dinner. I was SO glad the main dining room WAS booked that night!! We had a fantastic dinner experience! It was a 5-course meal. The menus were personalized with my in-laws' names on top. Such a nice touch. We LOVED how each course was served!! There were 12 of us for dinner. For each course TWELVE waitstaff promptly marched in, stood by our chairs and with precision served all of us our plates at the same time. Again, we enjoyed having a room just for our family. We were able to talk and have a good time without worrying about disturbing other diners.

They have a wonderful spa and my massage therapist was top notch. The ONLY thing that spoiled my spa appointment was the sound of a crying baby outside my room during my massage. What?! I didn't bring my own children, I don't want to hear others'!! Oh well. Moving on...

It's a quick 1- or 1-1/2 block walk to get to any water. The beach and the water view are fantastic. The pool area was okay. (Be prepared to pay A LOT for poolside cocktails and deal with a crabby bartender) Other than that, fabulous resort!

Room Tip: For families -- the cottages offer individual rooms for privacy, and a large common area to enjoy al...
