“Lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

We enjoyed a day here and it was perfect for the beginner snorkler in our family. At first we thought all the picnic tables had been taken but then walked the path beyond the visitor center and found four more empty tables. These are nicely shaded so when you need a break from the sun it's a quick walk back but you can still keep an eye on family members in the water. There are many beautiful places along both sides to take photos. Lunch was concession stand fare but ok. Wish we had arrived earlier in the day just to spend more time there.

“Best beach in the Keys.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Since it is a state park, it is also protected, adding to its pristine beauty. As an artist, I was thrilled to complete several watercolor sketches there.,, The water is turquoise at times... I love it.

“beautiful beach,crystal clear water”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

wish we had more time here. Location is simply stunning. nice facilities, clean area. was a bit too chilly and windy to stay and completely enjoy the beach. Will definately go back. make sure you bring a diver down flag even if snorkeling.

“Beautiful Place to Stop on the Way to Key West”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

We stopped at Bahia Honda on our way to Key West. It was hot out and it was refreshing to get in the ocean. The park has nice, clean facilities for changing and is so quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed our afternoon walking the beach and swimming. Definitely stop and spend a few hours relaxing here.

“No true beachfront lots!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

We stayed at Bahia Honda State Park for 1 night on our way down to Key West.

RV spots are booked months ahead but there are last minute cancellations, you just have to keep looking online.

The campground was clean and had hot shower(big on our list). If you think you will arrive after 5pm, make sure you call ahead and get the key code to the gate otherwise after 5pm there will be no one to open the gate.

The oceanfront lots actually face the US 1 highway and it does get noisy at night with the traffic.

One of the features of this campsite is it has access to boat-ramps, kayak rentals, a concession place and several ranger programs.
We enjoyed a 1 hour presentation regarding stars and constellation late at night - which was fantastic!

The cost of 1 night is approx $45 which is worth it!
