From start to finish, this was a really good hotel experience. The room was not the best but had a good sea view from the 4th floor. Adequately spacious with coffee facilities. No tea cups or mugs so espresso coffee or nothing. The breakfast is freshly prepared as was all the dining. The pool is large enough to swim and not run into other users and leads to the private beach. What sets this hotel from the competition is the fantastic staff. The reception, waiting, concierge and pool attendants were all wonderful. When we return to Miami we will keep away from the noise and head back here. Cannot be praised highly enough.

Given that we used Marriott points for our three-night stay, we must admit that our review might be somewhat prejudiced as we did not pay the $1000+/night charge for our ocean-view room. If we had, we most likely would be more critical of what we experienced. On the positive side, the room was spacious and clean with a balcony view of the ocean. Only two rooms were accessible from the elevator, making it feel more like a private suite than a hotel room. The pool was most inviting with its heated, salt water, and there was never a problem finding lounge chairs. The food (breakfast and lunch everyday and dinner once) was very good. Most of all, the staff was most attentive and responsive to our inquiries. Failing to provide non-allergenic pillows as listed on our request sheet, housekeeping corrected the situation as soon as they were notified and sent chocolate-covered strawberries to our room to apologize for the oversight. On the negative side, we were disappointed in the bar and restaurant areas. Neither was on a par with others that we have experienced at Ritz Carltons where we have stayed in the past. Both were more like those you would expect at a local restaurant rather than at a luxury hotel. A small addition like floral arrangments would have added to the ambiance. Service was a definite problem. Although all the servers were extremely polite and friendly, they seemed to be overwhelmed even though there was more than enough staff to handle orders and see that they were taken and served in a resonable amount of time. While sitting at the bar, we even hear one lady come from a table outside and ask when she could expect someone to take their order. Moreover, be sure not to forget anything as there is no place to buy shaving cream, toothpaste, etc. Would we go back? On points--yes. On a paying basis-no.

This is not your typical big box resort Ritz Carlton. It actually feels feels much more like a boutique hotel with personalized service. While some may find that discouraging, that is what we liked most about the property.

In regards to the service, that is what makes this hotel special. The staff went out of their way to remember your name and offered their assistance at every opportunity. It is clear that the management at this property cares about their guests and that is their number one priority.

Besides the service, the rooms at the hotel were the nicest that we have ever stayed at. The room is more like a suite, with very high quality features, such as a stand alone bath tub sitting by the window overlooking the beach. Simply stunning.

The room itself contained high quality linens and the bedding was the most comfortable that we have ever experienced.

The pool is rather small and the service at the restaurant is slow (and the food uneventful).

If you are looking for a special getaway in the Miami area, I would highly recommend this hotel without question. Well done!

This Ritz-Carlton property was absolutely stunning!! And as always, the service was impeccable! The staff was courteous and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We were upgraded to a suite and we had 2 balconies, one which was right over the ocean! There is an upscale shopping center less than a mile away with a couple of great dining options. The only negative thing I have to say is that I wished I would have booked this hotel longer than 2 nights! Great job Ritz-Carlton Bal Harour!!

I would have given this hotel a 5 star if I liked the decor. Some people love it like my husband who is a big man and tends to lean towards large masculine furnishings that provide uber comfort. I felt that there wasn't continuity. I couldn't pin point the decor. There were beautiful wood work and nice details throughout which ubruptly changed to glass and metal. The furniture was bulky, the art large for effect. There was no artistic constraint when designing this hotel. Now this is unlikely for the Ritz but in all fairness they bought this hotel from the One Resort and I'm sure there will be renovations contemplated in the near future. The service was outstanding throughout except at the cafe, where I think there was too many servers walking around mesmerized...probably from the huge and loud Bar Mitzvah taking place next door. I loved our room...2 per floor. It was exremely quiet and private. Large bathrooms and stunning views of the beach. The concierge who also moonlights as a valet and doorman was extremely helpful and accomodating. The hotel's amneties are fine too. The gym is a little small but it has all the machines that you'd expect. I loved their pool for those of us who didn't want to swim on the beach. I noticed that they have a great beach area for chairs and plenty of pails and shovels for children or adults who want to build a sand castle. Room service is efficient and fast. The hotel is situated at the end of Collins Ave in Bal Harbour. It was confusing to locate as you would have to drive by the private residences to get to the hotel other than that it was a wonderful stay!

My husband and I decided to go to Miami for Valentine's Day. If I hadn't used American Express points for our stay, I would feel like we had been robbed. As it is, we are out over 587,000 points for a three-day stay that was valued at $1,300 PER NIGHT! There exists no alternate universe in which this hotel is worth this much.

For $1,300, I expect the room to change my life; to be spacious, perhaps with a sitting area or a dressing room. The room had a bed with some furniture crammed around it. We did have a large bathroom, which is great if you plan on spending a lot of time in the bathroom.

I also expect the television not to have images burned into the screen, the espresso machine not to be chipped, the bedside lamp not to be burned out and the shower not to leak all over the bathroom floor.

Although I had specified an ocean view, we had a freeway and an inter-coastal view from the bedroom. We did have an ocean view from the bathroom, which is great if you plan on spending a lot of time in the bathroom.

The spa had just re-opened the day of our arrival, with paper signs on the doors and walls. Many of the lockers were broken in the locker room, as was the men's steam room. It was a no-frills experience, which is not what you want from a luxury spa in a luxury hotel. Since the spa was definitely not ready for a grand re-opening, they should not have charged full price for the experience.

The staff was very earnest and tried really hard, but service was inconsistent. A concierge brought my husband a pair of cufflinks, because there is no gift shop in the hotel. However, we found service in the restaurant to be painfully slow at times, with several requests lost in translation.

The Ritz-Carlton needs to seriously re-evaluate the room rates for this hotel. As it's priced now, I would never go back.

Rooms off a private elevator, very private, magnificent views of ocean, intercostal , city north and south. The service is excellent, wonderful people working here. Pool and beach outstanding. Great path for walking along beach all the way to South beach. Walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Expensive but worth it.
