I would like to express my thanks for the accommodations at the Sheraton Suites, but unfortunately I am unable to do that. Not only my stay, but the events leading up to the day were a complete fiasco. I was having my wedding at Winterthur on Saturday, August 18th, who recommended your hotel to us and also arranged our accommodations there (which was in our package). I thought it would be a great idea to add this as an accommodation to our wedding website, giving our out of town guests an option to spend the night. The room block was important to me, as many guests decided to stay over night. Not only was my room block "LOST" on more than several occasions, but I had to deal with my guests calling me asking about the hotel which was VERY embarrassing and stressful ( I had a wedding that weekend, which was stressful enough!!) The rooms were scattered all over the hotel, which was also strange to me, because with other room blocks I have encountered in the past, the guests have all been put on the same floor or at least near one another.
The day of the wedding I was extremely calm, up until the moment I entered the hotel. The lobby was completely chaotic and unorganized, and was filled with at least 50 people just talking loudly and taking up space, not even checking in. There were no bellmen and only two people behind the front desks checking in guests. TWO on a Saturday afternoon! Needless to say, it took longer than expected to check in. Upon checking in, the front desk representative said that my parents reservation was cancelled (WHAT!). She then went to her counter partner (who was working on my check in). She dropped me like a bad habit and started assisting the other girl, as I waited there confused. After 15-20 minutes, the rep who was working with me finally found my parents reservation. They were supposed to be next to my Godparents and they were put 11 floors down from them. Once my dad got to the room, the keys did not work. He had to go back downstairs and at that time was so upset he requested to go back to the original room he was SUPPOSE to have next to my Godparents. After an hour of sorting that out - there were no trollies to carry my heavy wedding gown, luggage, flowers and the tuxedo's up. We had to take several trips to my room on the 15th floor, from the unsafe, dirty parking garage 18 floors below (which is not an easy task considering the incompetence of your elevators).
That night, after the wedding, my brothers room did not have any sheets for the pull out couch (where the kids were staying) and it took over an hour to get them that night. When the paper-like sheets were finally delivered, they didn't even fit the pull out bed and ALL 4 of them had to sleep in the KING BED! I can not forget to mention that their car was keyed and the front end was damaged and dented in the parking garage that they had to pay $12.00 for.
These are just a few complaints listed above. My family has traveled the world and has NEVER encountered such chaos, incompetence, confusion and stress. My parents also owned a hotel at the Jersey beach for 30 years and were shocked at the lack of professionalism upon checking and organization as a whole. Needless to say, we were excited to checkout on Sunday morning. We were completely dissatisfied with the Sheraton Suites and will not be back, nor recommending your hotel in the future to anyone. In fact, I have already told Winterthur about our negative experience with your hotel and hope that they look into another accommodation for their future clients. I hope no other bride and groom have to go through the ordeal that we did.
