My husband and I stayed here for a wedding that he was in during July 2008. The city itself is extremely unsafe and dangerous. One other wedding party member and his girlfriend got lost about two blocks from the hotel, and found themselves surrounded by unfriendly locals who were standing in the street approaching their open-top convertible in a menacing manner. The driver (my husband's friend), immediately turned down a side street and was pulled over by a policeman for going the wrong way on a one-way street. In the words of my husband's friend, "I have never been so happy to have been pulled over in my life!" The police officer immediately said, "You must be lost," and then after giving him directions said, "You need to get out of this neighborhood." In plain language, this city is ghetto. I am a heavy sleeper, but was constantly awakened at night due to the sirens on the streets below. The room itself was disgusting. There were stains on the carpet that looked a lot like blood, but we were told that they were left over from the renovations (?). There was no soap in the bathroom upon arrival and it took at least an hour for someone to bring it to our room. The a/c blew right on you if you sat in the bed or on any of the extremely uncomfortable couches or chairs facing the TV. The parking garage spaces were the narrowest I have ever seen and it took four of us to park in a space because we were so afraid of hitting another car. We would have parked in the street, but were advised not to do so by hotel staff due to the bad neighborhood. This city is nasty and unsafe and I will never visit it again unless forced to do so. Do not stay at this hotel.
