“Could be on the street where you live! If you live in the City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Very non commercial location in a Yuppy Neighborhood in the Trolley Square area of Wilmington.

Finding it for the first time might be a bit of a challenge if you don' have a GPS because of the one way streets that give you access to the location.

Once you discovered it is to be enjoyed. Comfortable trendy atmosphere, Multi-Level Dining and limited size makes it a friendly and warm dining spot. The menu is definitely on the upscale;e side. Clients are generally people who appreciate quality food and don't blink at the prices. Plenty of unusual choices and the staff will walk you through them so you will truly understand what you will be ordering. Four of us, two couples had a most enjoyable dinner. It was a repeat of us and the other couple who have NYC expectations were quite pleased with the meal.

You will find eating a Moro a worthwhile and rewarding experience. It isn't cheap but if you see a Groupon Offer - buy it! It will make the experience somewhat less expensive.

“Tasty, varied and enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Moro sometimes hits the nail on the head and other times, misses slightly. Not inexpensive, relatively small portions, particularly on the small plates, but always creative and interesting. It might not be my first choice in Wilmington, but it's certainly on the list.

“Not Quite Up to Expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

My wife and I took two friends to Moro for dinner; they had not previously been there, and we thought it was worth recommending. The group had a round of drinks including wines, beer, and mixed drink, all reasonably priced, and from a diverse selection.

Starters and entrées were equally diverse. Starters ranged from a "Small Plate" special of Baked Brie in Puff Pastry to House Salad to a salad special of Pulled Pork Salad. All were quite good. Entrées were a "Large Plate" special of Pepper Seared Sushi Grade Tuna (a large and elegant portion), a "Small Plate" special of Arugula Filled Gnocchi (outstanding) and off the regular menu the "Large Plate" Pan Seared Duck Breast (which was good, not great!). The other guest chose two "Small Plates" which she enjoyed thoroughly. Each couple shared a single dessert: the Cookie Bread Pudding and the Taste of Sorbet; both were generous and outstanding preparations. All had coffee, which was very good.

All in all, the evening was a success. Our friends were pleased to be introduced to the restaurant and will be returning. For ourselves, the duck entrée did not fully live up to expectations; but, other than that, as usual we enjoyed the evening. We too, will certainly return.

“Over-Priced and Poor Quality Food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

My husband and I went to Moro for dinner after reading so many positive reviews on this site and other food/travel websites. We don't understand how there could be so many positive reviews after our experience.

First, the food is very expensive for the relatively small portions you get. The small plates are about the size you'd expect, but the large plates aren't that much food for the price.

Second, the quality of the food was very poor. We tried the fried chicken small plate and it was stringy, chewy, and bland. There was supposed to be hot sauce on it, but there wasn't much sauce, and not much flavor to the chewy chicken at all. We also ordered the scallops and rack of lamb to split. We were expecting a peach sauce on the scallops, but all they did was put a few slices of peach on top of them. The scallops were tough and flavorless. As for the rack of lamb, the plate consisted of 2 bones with a little meat on each, and half of what was there was fat. The lamb was chewy and tough as well, with no sauce either.

We were extremely disappointed with this visit and will never go back. Please think twice before choosing this restaurant for dinner. If you're in the Wilmington area, consider Mona Lisa's, Two Stones Pub, Mikimoto's, or one of many other really good restaurants in the area.

“Upscale Restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Be prepared to drop at least $100+ for dinner for 2. The upstairs is very dimly lit & romantic. We made the mistake of ordering the strip steak off the special list that ended up being $40 for a slightly fatty and average size piece of meat. The collards that came with it were bitter & crunchy (yuk) and the fried polenta cake tasted dry and like old oil. Very disappointing. We also had the meat plate which was excellent. We really wanted a cheese & meat plate but you had to order one or the other OR both which would have been way too much. The moro salad was really good as well. The bread that came with the meal was hard and I hate to say this but it was lousy. Hubby got the pan seared scallops which were cooked perfectly and you got 3 large scallops (could have used a 4th). May go back to try some of the small plates. The restaurant is on a side street and kind of hidden so go slow when trying to find it.
