Went for lunch on a really nice, sunny day and wanted to sit outside. The upper deck was open but the downstairs seating was closed. We were told by the hostess to "...just go upstairs to see if seating was available." REALLY??? We walked upstairs and no one even paid attention to us. Was told by a bartender to just walk outside and find a table and someone would wait on us. Went outside. People were arguing over who was next in line for a table. Finally seated, we waited for what seemed like forever until a waiter came over and actually stated “I saw that no one was waiting on you so I will take your order". Food was average lunch fare at best. Not worth the aggravation. Iron Hill is OFF THE LIST FOR LUNCH!!!

It is truly terrible that it has taken us so long to reply to your comments. Thank you so much for sharing your lunch experience with us. It sounds like we let you down in so many ways on your lunch some time ago and we would really like to make it up to you so we can get back on your list for lunch. Please reach out to us directly at geninfo@ironhillbrewery.com for we would love to chat with you directly if you would kindly consider giving us another chance. We hope to hear from you!

“Hot spot on the river”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

Great find during a short trip to Wilmington.
Located on the river front (right in front of the Riverboat Queen), we sat up on the mezzanine overlooking the river in the sun. It was a hot spot for locals and tourists alike. The beer (brewed in the building) was average for a microbrewery, but the food was excellent. The menu was an extensive a mixture of large entrees and delicious sharing side dishes (such as creatively filled spring rolls). Just lovely.

“Better than last visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

We last visited Iron Hill's Wilmington location in November and were not very pleased with that visit. This visit was better. Unfortunately, we visited (4/13) on the same day as a brew competition so it was very busy. Upon arriving around 6:30 pm, we were told we'd have an hour wait. The wait was close to 50 minutes but we finally got a table. I enjoyed a pint of one of their brews. We split the blue crab quesadilla appetizer which was very good. She had the Grilled Salmon Salad which she enjoyed and I had the Healthy Beef Medallions which was good but could have used a little more flavor and a few more asparagus stalks (only 3). Our server was more attentive than our last visit.

“The staff really know their beer!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

My wife and I have eaten at Iron Hill Wilmington many times. The place is huge and there is plenty of seating. It can get pretty crowded especially closer to the weekends, but they seem to have no problem accommodating everyone. The downstairs bar itself is rather small seating only a dozen or so around the bartender, but there are also high-chair tables as well as several booths in there. The upstairs bar is rather long and can accommodate even more. The dining rooms (upstairs and down) are large and they can get a bit loud during the busy times. The staff is very knowledgeable about the on-site brewed beer. They all know the product, how it is produced, and what it is like. They will even let you have a small sample of any beer just to check it out. The “cask ale” is especially good. While commonplace in the UK, it is not generally found in the USA. It takes special handling and Iron Hill does a great job with it. The food is excellent. Dismiss any notions of “pub” fare. This place has great chefs that produce unique dishes. The signature mushroom soup is made with “local” Kennett Square, PA mushrooms and it is hands down the best I have ever had! Being a custom brewery, things are on the pricey side, so expect to pay city prices.

“Great place for Beer, food and a game”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

I only ate in the bar so take that in mind. The main tables seem well secluded from the bar so the experience would be different. Great beers. I had their meatball pizza which was excellent. Only thing stopping me form going more was that it was not close to my hotel.
