While visiting Rehoboth on a family vacation, my mother-in-law, sister-in-law and her teenage son joined me for brunch at Nage. We made a reservation and when we arrived we could see that they were really short staffed. After about ten minutes we were seated, menus given to us.
The poor waiter had so many tables to take care of, he was really moving. He brought us our drinks, and after a bit of a wait, came to take our order. It was a fairly long wait before we got our food, and between our entrees and dessert.
The food was very good- I had a Cobb salad with avocado that was so fresh and tasty, the avocado melted in my mouth. The fries were addictive and though we all shared one big order, if we had had more we would have scarfed them down too. My mother-in-law really enjoyed her Curried Chicken Salad Tartine, the Italian Flatbread was the least popular dish of the day.
For dessert we shared a Salted Caramel Creme Brulee and Key Lime Panna Cotta; both were very good, with the creme brulee edging out the panna cotta. When we finally got the check, the waiter told us that the manager had comped our desserts and my mimosas, without us even asking.
This was a very generous thing to do, and my mother-in-law asked to speak with the manager, who told us that they were very understaffed that day (my husband and I owned two restaurants so I completely knew where this man was coming from). It was a very classy thing to do, and this gesture made sure that we tourists would return and speak kindly of Nage. That manager knew how to turn a negative into a positive and kudos to him.
I saw that that they had a Happy Hour daily from 4-6 and they have a wonderful wine list, with my husband's favorite Peppoli Chianti. We will return the next time we are in Rehoboth.
