We were a little disappointed, because we were celebrating my wife's birthday, and no one from the restaurant did or said anything to make her feel special on her special day. When making reservations, the reservationist asked if it was a celebration and I answered that it was my wife's birthday. However, no one at the restaurant ever said "happy birthday," nor did they bring a piece of cake, or even put a candle on the dessert that I ordered for the two of us. I just wonder why they bothered to ask in the first place.
Having gotten that little disappointment off my chest, I must honestly report that the restaurant was pretty good. I had French onion soup and my wife had the apple and pumpkin salad; both were very good (the salad, however, was too salty). For our entrees, I had the steak/frites, while my wife had the ricotta-stuffed gnocchi; again, both meals were very tasty. We split a piece of carrot cake for dessert; it was good but a little on the dry side.
The server was friendly and very efficient. However, as is too often the case towards the end of the meal, it was a little difficult to get her attention. She did not come back to the table to ascertain if everything was all right until it would have been too late to rectify any problems; however, as there were no real problems with our meals, this small serving error did not make a practical difference in our enjoyment of the meal. Additionally, she never asked if we would like a refill on our coffees--a nicety that is always appreciated when offered.
The ambiance is a bit on the plain side -- there are no table cloths and the place has an almost industrial feel to it.
While we will return to Nage sometime in the future, we will certainly not come back to celebrate on any special occasions.
