We booked a last minute long weekend for 4 days of gluttonous abandonment, actually, that inaccurately suggests indiscriminately stuffing our faces--in reality, I had painstakingly constructed an itinerary--Henlopen City Oyster House, The Shorebreak Lodge, Espuma, etc. for our gastronomic indulgence. Since it was a last minute thing, we weren't able to get into The Avenue Inn, where we usually stay.
The Beach View offers very good value, although we didn't take advantage of the free breakfasts & wine & cheese. The rooms are clean, if utilitarian; but this is not, and they don't claim to be, a luxury hotel. The furniture/decor is dated and a bit frayed, but clean. Our request for towels was granted promptly & pleasantly. For the majority of people who don't spend much time in their room on vacation, this would be ideal; however, we typically like to lounge around and read between meals..er..outings. So we prefer more amenities then offered here. We had a pleasant stay.
