“Fantastic Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2008

My husband and I just returned from a weekend getaway @ the Canalside Inn.

When we pulled up we were surprised to find that the inn is across from the canal, not directly on it. But we decided to check-in and see the room. I am so glad we stayed.

Our room was wonderful with a shared seating area outside, and french doors leading into the room itself. Amentities included: featherbed, TV, DVD player, reading chair w/ottoman, large bathroom, high quality toiletries, coffee maker, terrycloth robes, table & chairs for 2, and a small fridge. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in, and the room was spotlessly clean.

Generous hospitality is obviously the main concern of the owner. Each morning there was a good sized fresh & welcoming continental breakfast served in the Lounge. Also in the lounge, were wine glasses & corkscrew for guests wanting to open a bottle of wine in your room or on the patio, a flat panel tv and sitting area that with plenty of space to sit and talk with friends, and shelves of DVDs to borrow and take back to your room or watch in the lounge. There was also a computer with internet access.

All in all, our expectations were surpassed. We went away needing to rest and relax, and the Canalside Inn ushered us into relaxation. The prices can't be beat in the off-season. We will return to the Canalside Inn for our next visit to Rehoboth Beach.

  • Liked — cleanliness & comfort of room.
  • Disliked — you could hear the TV in one of the other rooms.

A small, tastefully appointed, Inn on a very quiet side street looking across to walking trail, next to the canal. Between the pleasant front porch and our balcony with Adirondack chairs for reading, Canalside Inn stood out. Terrycloth bathrobes, wine and highball glasses, even better quality soaps, shampoos and towels showed the owners' wish to pamper the customer. Meticulously clean, even under the bed and over the flat screen TV. Continental breakfast was generous and served in a lower room with a modern Scandinavian flavor.

Small pool, minor oversights did not detract from an enjoyable stay. We recommend it and would go back.

We had such a wonderful experience.

The hotel is about 100 yards from the north end of Rehoboth Avenue, closer enough to walk to everything and far enough away to have complete peace and quiet.

The breakfast was nice! OJ, Coffee, Yogurt, Muffins, Danishes, Bagels, Fruit Salad, Banana's and more - I truly did not expect all this to be on offer, and to top it off the breakfast room is gorgeous! (all new furniture with plasma TV's and surround sound) - it was nice to do something I very rarely get to do - have coffee, eat breakfast, watch the news and read the newspaper! (and not in my hotel room, in a nice relaxing comfortable atmosphere).

Our bed was comfortable and the linen was very nice. I am not a brand snob, but our bed had Ralph Lauren linen on it - and it feldt so nice!

Our little puppy was welcomed with open arms. It was nice to feel so genuinely welcomed!

We took a bike ride on the free bikes that the B&B offered - that it's self was one of the highlights of the weekend (along with relaxing on the front porch with a cocktail). It was nice that we were not pressured to bring the bikes back by a certain time and it was even nicer that they were free!

Over the years I have stayed at the Sands Hotel, the Brighton Suites and the Bellmoor and none of them have the quaint personal touch that this B&B.

We will definitely be staying here again and will be recommending it to everyone we know.

We were looking for a quiet place to get away from it all for the weekend, and we definitely found it in the Canalside Inn. We enjoyed the pool/hot tub area during the day and even at night, and we walked all over Rehoboth in the evening. The inn is several blocks from the beach, which made it nice for us, because it was close enough to the action that we could walk there, but it was far enough away that it was out of the hustle and bustle.

We stayed in a deluxe room on the first floor, and the room was very spacious and absolutely immaculate. The furnishings were simple, but very nice. The bed and the linens were top-notch .... very comfortable.

Breakfast was not fancy, but was done very nicely, and was just enough to get the day started. I read a negative review on this site about breakfast not being replenished. We has just the opposite experience. Breakfast is scheduled from 8 - 10, and I saw the innkeeper replenish breakfast and make fresh coffee at 9:45 a.m.

The innkeepers kept the property up very nicely, and made sure that guests had everything that they needed, without being intrusive in any way.

I would highly recommend this inn. I know that we will be going back again.

My husband and I just returned from spending three nights at the Canalside Inn. We both loved the place. It was quietly tucked away off of the main avenue, but close enough to walk to the restaurants and downtown Rehoboth (although we drove because it was just too hot outside!). The rooms are very nicely decorated, and extremely clean - even the faucet in the bathroom sparkled. Both the hot tub and pool were very clean as well. In the downstairs lounge, which is also very nicely decorated, was where you had your continental breakfast, which consisted of delicious muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee.

The Inn is very reasonably priced. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Canalside Inn to anyone who is thinking of visiting Rehoboth. You won't be disappointed.

The Canalside is being carefully remodeled in striking bright colors. Rooms have patio doors onto the balcony or large windows with blinds for privacy. Breakfast in attractive lounge on below-ground floor. Quiet, relaxing block away from the bustle. Owner is friendly and discrete, always on premises, very accommodating. Romantic, low-key, lovely. Parking too.
