“Just place stay over night”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Clean
Small bed and bathroom I do mean SMALL
Bring LOTS of quarters you will PAY for parking FROM 7am to 12 midnight
If you are a large person the shower will NOT BE A COMFORTABLE
Not a lot of space to move around in if you plan to spend anytime in room
Lighting well to cut off light you unplugs it or cut off TV and anything else in that outlet

I read a few reviews on this hotel before booking and they weren't great so our expectations were pretty low from the get-go. The room and bathroom in the room we were given were clean and the bed - although way too big for the poorly laid out room - was actually very comfortable.

If you just need a place to shower and crash for a night or two and don't have any particular need to hang out in your hotel then this place is fine.

If you are reading these reviews its because you want to know more about this hotel. Don't do what I did and think "it can't be THAT bad"...it is!!! Listen to the reviews...Don't stay here - it is truly awful.
The bed coverlet was filthy, the air conditioner noisy and ineffectual, the towels were threadbare, the bathroom hasn't been updated since the early 70's, the hallways smelt like disinfectant, the walls are paper thin, the lock on the door was loose. I felt like I didn't want to touch anything let alone sleep here. This hotel did not have 1 redeeming feature aside from the location.
We paid $225 a night and I have never felt more ripped off in my life.
Sleeping under a bridge would be more attractive than another night in this hotel. Never again.

I should have known the cheapest place in town would be a dump and it is. For $185 a night and up you get a room with barely enough room to get into, let alone any place to sit besides the bed. The phone sits on the AC, the ceiling is failing down, the toilet is loose, the dresser has one of the drawers screwed in so it won't fall out. I don't know how this place can stay in business or pass inspection but I suppose in peak summer season, there's not much available close to the beach. As noted by other reviewers, the towels are tiny and of course no beach towels. You get a parking pass but end up having to park far away unless you pay for the metered parking. I decided to pass on the 10% discount for a positive review on tripadvisor (as advertised in the lobby).

Room Tip: Don't stay here unless you have no other choice and are willing to pay top dollar for not much.

Visually dirty/very worn towels. Mildew smell. The sheets itched? I don't know why. A/C sounded like a diesel engine & couldn't cool the room. The bed felt like gravel. Walls & doors can't possibly meet building Code. You can hear everyone in the hall and adjacent room. The smoke detector didn't work and sprinkler was rusted. The "free parking" was a lie & we had to leave our cell on the windshield in case the person in front of us wanted to get out. Hardly had sleep. The attendant didn't ask why we were checking out early, and certainly didn't invite a conversation about our dissatisfaction nor did he refund the unused night. Hotel clerks we met while searching for another room said they rescue people fleeing the place for the last 5 years. I'm disputing charges. I will be contacting the city of Rehoboth.

Room Tip: This is strictly a place for kids in high school who pass out drunk. Don't do it!

The Summer Place Hotel is the epitome of "you get what you pay for". Overall, I was unsatisfied with my experience. It's dirty, impersonal, noisy, and unsafe to put it lightly. There were stains on the bed sheets, dirty engrossed within the bathroom, and dried food in the microwave. The walls are paper thin, making it more than easy to hear almost every conversation going on in the other rooms. The door to the room I stayed in didn't shut unless you body-slammed it and dead bolted it - which even then didn't give you a sense of safety. The maid service was poor to terrible as well. Going to the beach entails sandy floors and one would assume that by requesting "maid service" the sand would be even relatively vacuumed up however that's not the case. The beds weren't made, the floor wasn't vacuumed, and the bathroom wasn't cleaned. All that was done was "clean" towels were placed within the bathroom. The main door within the hotel was constantly opening and closing (playing a loud bell) at all hours of the night. In the morning, the caretaker was never available and the bell at the front desk was constantly being rung. While there are few redeemable characteristics, they are there. It's one block from the beach and a couple of blocks from the main street of Rehoboth. Just because the price is lowered doesn't mean the service needs to be lowered.

My friends and I stayed at Summer Place Hotel over Memorial Day weekend. We had been to Rehoboth before, and didnt want to be far from the main area. The location is great, being only few blocks to the beach and to the main street. The hotel itself was small and you can hear your neighbors, but for the price it was reasonable. The owner/ front desk dude was really nice and helpful and has some cool memorabilia in the lobby area. All in all, I think we will be back!

Room Tip: There is no restaurant or pool located at this hotel.
