“Where the locals go.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

I found out through a friend that this is one of the restaurants that the locals prefer. We decided to give it a try and we are glad we did.
Now, if you are looking for a fancy outside entrance with a big sign. You will not find that here.
The ambiance in the dining room is nothing to write home about either. However, if you are looking for a restaurant where the portions are big and the prices are reasonable, then you might want to give this place a try. The food leaving the kitchen is made with love. There is nothing else to say. It is a great place to eat and there are no frills. The wait staff is friendly and the deserts are tasty.

“Hidden Gem for Fine Rehoboth Beach Dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012

Captain's Table Restaurant is situated on Route 1 just north of Dewey Beach. The signage and outside appearance of the establishment do not do it justice as the ambiance inside makes one imagine they are indeed dining with the Captain on a ship in the 1800's. There is a nice bar area with a lengthy bar and numerous seats. The menu is an excellent variety of seafood, pasta and other American favorites priced in the $12 to $26 range. If an entree isn't in the works, there is a fantastic selection of sandwiches. Homemade pies and other desserts complete the meal nicely. Our server tonight was Brenda and she made us feel welcome from the moment we were seated as did the host. My advice? Don't fight the traffic and challenging parking along Rehoboth Avenue when you can have a splendid dining experience nearby.

“O’ The Captain!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

O’ The Captain!!

This is a vintage 60-70’s flash back restaurant. Traditional captains tables, wood paneling, coke bottle glass between the bar and dining. Average age of customers is around 62 but DON’T LET THIS SCARE YOU! The food is a wonderful taste of traditional Delaware seafood. Prepared the way your mother may have done it. It is great. A very relaxed environment right on the Coast HWY strip. Needing some 1 on 1 with your special someone? This is the place to go. There s[special are wonderful and all food is fresh…really fresh. A+ for this business and a fun change up for dining experience.

“Only if you like fish mush and being ignored.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2012

We went here on Tuesday night July 3 2012. The primary reason we picked the Captains Table is because it was next door to our hotel. Let me start off by saying that in my opinion I am a pretty forgiving reviewer, but the Captain's Table belongs on Restaurant Impossible or some other reality show. OK, so the decor is old and needs updated. Big deal. The place was nearly empty, so what.

We ordered the Seafood Platter which had 3 scallops, 3 grilled shrimp, 1 crab cake, three little neck clams and a piece of broiled flounder. Our sides were baked potato and Cole slaw. The scallops were fair, but rather tasteless. The crab cake was OK. The little neck clams were dry. The grilled shrimp were good. The broiled flounder was disgusting. It (flounder) was a pile of mush with no flavor with the texture of jello. The Cole slaw and baked potato were good enough. So, in total, the dinner was just marginal, if you forget about the flounder. Oh, I almost forgot, while we were there we heard them say that they were now out of both corn and baked potato's.

Now the service, if you can call it service. Our waitress only checked on us once as she was walking by so there goes our chance to show her the flounder mess on our plate. Next after waiting and watching our waitress bus a table, take an order from a new table, we were able to get her to bring us our check.

Almost out of here, right. Wrong. Now we get to watch her bring food to the other table, go bus another table and go into the kitchen. Finally we had to yell for her to please come and take our payment. She did seem to do a better job for the other table which seemed to be locals.

We did confront the waitress about the lack of service, which she said we weren't happy when we walked in. What? We also complained to the hostess/manager and her comment was only "Really".

I hate to totally complain about a restaurant, but I sorry, the Captain's Table really needs to shut their doors.

DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS RESTAURANT! We went to the restaurant on our first night of vacation in Rehoboth. Our son has sensitivity with foods and have to take his meal wherever we go. We asked our waitress if they would be able to heat it up for him. She checked with the manager, Lisa, who denied our request due to health dept regulations. When we asked to speak with the manager, she refused and said she had to get back on the line. She looked right at my husband and walked away!
This establishment needs to realize the the Americans with Disabilities Act supercedes local health dept rules. She wouldn't even give us the courtesy of speaking with us.

Who cares about the food, if their customers are treated with such disrespect. They are in the customer service business, but the service skills aren't even there.

Would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone!
