“Ordered It To Go”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2012

We were staying in the Quality Inn & Suites, which is next door to this restaurant. We were too tired to drive anywhere. So, I called them with a to go order that included three orders of crab cakes (with either french fries or coleslaw) and one cheeseburger with fries. The crab cakes had lots of crab in them. I can see why the previous reviewer said the cakes had no flavor. They tasted like crab with minimal spices. I liked it and would rather have it mild versus too spicy. But, that's just me. The cheeseburger was good, but not cooked well done like requested (medium instead). The french fries tasted like typical french fries. We were happy and would eat there food again.

“Expected More Than Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2012

We went for lunch after hearing how good it was. The food was mdeiocre at best. We had a sandwich which I could have made so much better at home. Not much in it and just bland tasting. The soup was fine but nothing spectacular. We had expected so much more after hearing of this place from friends.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

The food is great. I loved the oyster stew. My friend ordered the grilled bologna sandwich. It was off their specials of the day. The collard greens were seasoned very well. The best part is the waiting staff, which I think have been there for 30 years. This place has a home town feel and great food.

“Slow but good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

We arrived at the the Captain's Table at 7:00 on a Friday evening with reservations, there were 11 of us. They had a moderate crowd, we experienced no wait, our table was ready. We received a warm greeting by the desk staff and our waitress. We ordered dinner by 7:30 including, off the menu items, and a few specials. We were brought drinks and bread three times before our meals finally arrived. Everyone was very pleased with their dishes. Our waitress continued to keep our drinks full and be attentative. The broiled seafood platter, the softshell crabs platter, the broiled scallop platter and the rib eye steak special were very good. A variety of desserts were ordered as well. I would suggest the rice pudding and the pies. It was 9:30 when we left. If you are not in a hurry and a patient person, you will enjoy this restaurant.

“If you want southern DE ambiance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2011 via mobile

The Captain's table is a throw back to a slower DE. If you want good veggies, Mrs. Lynch and her staff will not disappoint. The lasagna and soft shelled crabs are among the best to be had. If you're looking for a taste of "old Delaware," this is your place. This is an insiders place and be patient with the wait staff. This place won't be around in 10 years...the desserts are worth the calories.
