“Great location, amazing staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

My fiancé and I stayed there for our first vacation together 2 years ago. The staff was friendly and the maids were amazing, not one mean or angry employee in the whole place. It was definitely outdated but it was clean, the way I see it is we are only in the room to sleep and shower, that's it. We are getting married at the salero next month and besides the henlopen we have added the sand castle to our wedding page for our guests to stay at. We had an amazing experience when we went. Love this place! We stayed in 2012 but I thought I'd write a review anyway.

Nothing fancy here just a affordable priced hotel that is in a great location from the beach and shopping with friendly staff that is acceptably clean and maintained. Not the Hyatt Regency Grand folks but adequate all the same for a good price.

We enjoyed our stay. The motel is very convenient for walking to everything. The pool area appeared to be a little better then last year. The room was fine. Yes. The place is a little dated but everything works. Floors are very solid with little ones running and jumping on the beds and not bothering the folks below.

In general the staff is great from the front desk to the cleaning crews for the years that we have stayed.

But....we did encounter a very rude lady on Wednesday (8/13) checkout when we tried to extend our visit. She would not honor our current rate (even though other front desks members said it was okay the day we checked in) and she flat out just did not care with attitude. We left and went to ocean city for the extra day.

We will be back next year and book months in advance to get a good rate..but will book with specific front desks folks that actually care. We know their names from past encounters.

Saying this lady was rude is an understatement based on what we witnessed with other folks in the office and on the telephone with this lady. Such a shame to have one bad apple at the front desk.

Room Tip: Book way in advance for best rates.

Ok, we read the reviews before we went and so had no surprises. If you try to drive into Rehoboth during rush hour, you will be in stop-and-go traffic, which we were, so it was great to finally arrive, drive right into the parking garage under the hotel, and park for free! Front desk staff was friendly, room was large and clean. (It actually smelled a little like bleach when we first arrived but that quickly disappeared.) Our room faced the back and it was quiet, even with no air conditioner on. The maids were great. Everything worked. The location is fabulous.

They have a great outdoor roof space that we had breakfast on a few mornings, which was really nice. There's an honest to goodness real bakery right across the street. Bottom line: If you have the mindset that you will have Formica furnishings and plastic deck chairs, you will not be disappointed. It's a great beach hotel! I would stay there again. PS - here's an important thing: I left some crucial office papers in the room when we checked out. The maids found them and turned them in (gold stars to them!) and the front desk staff mailed them back at no charge! I of course reimbursed the cost, but don't you agree that says something pretty nice about the staff? Have a good time!

For the price, the Sandcastle is in a great location, blocks from the beach and numerous great restaurants and bars. The staff is kind and helpful, and the housekeeping staff is willing to just leave you alone if you ask. Only thing stopping this from being a 5 star review are the beds, in particular the lack of suites with a queen or King bed option. All rooms appear to be two double beds. I would also like to see improved comforters and some better soap/shampoo options, but that's about it.

If you are looking for a place that is close to the beach that won't break the bank, this is the spot.

Got here early but room was not ready. Ok. It wasn't 3 but she told me to come back @ 1, I did. Not ready. Came @2 not ready. Ok. It's 3. Room not ready. WHAT? Front desk went to check. Ok, 3:20 it's ready now. Grab the squeak cart to grab stuff and get to room. Not happy. Never experience this before. Then we used the toilet and it is clogged. What? Call front desk. You need to come down to get it. Seriously? I get down there 3 front desk people standing around. I could not believe it. No one could bring it to us? Maid staff still here. Customer Service??? I am thinking I should have paid a little more and stayed in my usual hotel. This one was cheaper. I guess I am paying the price now. They need a serious overhaul on this place. This hotel is coming off of one of my places to stay. Won't refer people here either.

This hotel is in a great location-right on the main street surrounded by shops and restaurants. And stay for the location...NOT the accommodations. The place is in serious need of some upgrades. I'm pretty relaxed about beach hotels but this one was definitely interesting, decor-wise. However, the parking garage was a great perk, and the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Tip for anyone with a decent amount of hair-bring your own shampoo and conditioner. All they have is a bar of soap and "moisturizing shampoo" which does nothing to help untangle beach hair.

Also, the bar downstairs has live music every night. You need to keep the A/C on to drown out the noise. FYI if you're a light sleeper.
