The Avenue Inn has a great location just two blocks from Rehoboth's beach and boardwalk. We found our queen suite room comfortable for a family of four and liked that the sitting room had a pocket door which could be closed if the adults wanted to stay up and read, watch
TV or talk. The room also contained a fridge and microwave which was helpful with small kids.
Rehoboth is jam packed in July/August, so we try to pick a few days at the end of May or early June when the weather looks good. It was 80 degrees on our recent visit in May. It is a great way to start the
summer and it is nice not to have everything so crowded. Although
some attractions and restaurants are not open until Memorial day, most open for weekends in May. The Avenue has an excellent weekday deal in May (stay two nights, get one free), but you do trade off more restaurant/attractions closed during the week. Our small kids love the Avenue's pool and the arcades on the boardwalk so the weekday deal works for us. there is also one mini golf course open during the week at the see shell shop on Rt. 1.
The only negative I had was poor quality of food & wine during the complmentary happy hour, but my five year old loved the complimentary
cookies served at 8 pm.
all in all, good location and rooms for families.
