“Rehoboth Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

This is a fabulous hotel with wonderful staff and ambiance. My wife and I had an outstanding vacation and we will not stay anywhere else. Complimentary breakfast, wine and cheese and freshly made cookies in the evening are a true delight. Lew is the shuttle captain who will transport you to and from the beach. It is situated near shopping and restaurants. And, if you want to improve your golf game, see Jim, the General manager who also happens to be a golf pro. The Avenue Inn is a true gem in Rehoboth!

Room Tip: Just ask the staff - unfortunately, the hotel is very busy and there isn't really a bad room

My husband and I just returned from our stay at the Avenue Inn. The Avenue was very clean with beautiful, updated decor. The complimentary breakfast was perfect for us because it had a little of everything. We love children but the adults only room was a very nice spot. The wine and cheese every evening was a nice touch. The Avenue is close to everything so our car stayed parked. The complimentary chairs gave us one less thing to pack. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a great place that is close to everything. Lew's shuttle to the beach was appreciated even though it really isn't far to walk.

Room Tip: Rooms with the balcony facing Rehoboth Avenue were nice to watch the night activity. Rooms near th...

After many years staying at a different hotel for our yearly jaunt to Rehoboth we decided to try the Avenue Inn. I was pleasantly surprised. Good location, clean property, comfortably appointed rooms, and enjoyable amenities. Also I must say that every employee I encountered was an absolute delight. I wish I had more time to explore the Spa and enjoy cocktails in the hotel lounge as they both seemed inviting but the beach and the area nightlife took over. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to any traveler.

Room Tip: Call to make the reservation instead of doing it online. The rep I spoke with described the rooms t...

Clean, and very kid friendly. Down the block from the beach and lots of shops and restaurants. Complimentary breakfast every morning and wine and cheese in the afternoon. They also have an adults only room to get away from the kids and read or have a drink. Great vacation spot for all.

We had a wonderful stay at the Avenue Inn & Spa! Great location, service and amenities! Lew's shuttle to the beach was a highlight for the kids! We highly recommend The Avenue Inn and Spa if you are looking for a relaxing stay in the heart of Rehoboth Beach.

We stayed here for the first time 8/22/14/-8/24/14. We had been looking forward to it,as we had heard many good things about this hotel. Unfortunatley, it did not live up to our expectations. Minor issues were: tub not draining properly, so our ankles were swirling in dirty water when showering, and our key stopped working the second day. This alone would not have prevented us from returning; however, the disregard for children running amok and abusing the facilities will. One example: on Saturday night, about 9:00 PM my husband & I got drinks from the lounge & tried to sit outside around the lovely fire pit to enjoy our drinks. The entire fire pit area & adjacent tables & chairs had been comandeered by several families & their obnoxious kids. They were hotel guests, but not paying customers for the lounge. They remained there until close to 11:00 PM (closing time for the lounge). The kids were running & riding their scooters - both on the patio & inside (yes- inside!) the lobby. They would run in a circle from the patio, through the lobby, out the door of the bar & around again. Two of the young boys stood in the lobby's automatic doorway, playing with the doors- making them open & shut, unitl the doors finally jammed. When we tried to carry our drinks outside, the boys had the doors blocked, and even after, an "excuse me", still did not move. They were screaming very loudly, throwing cushions, and climbing on the furniture. Neither the staff, nor the parents ever intervened. The front desk staff only came over when the doors jammed, but never said a word to the parents. By the way, our 2nd floor balcony was right above the patio, so that was not an option to enjoy a quiet drink. Most egregious of all, though, was that they cooked smores over the fire pit & dripped gooey mashmallow all over the bricks. When they finally left, there was only about 10 minutes for us to enjoy the fire, before closing time. I don't know how anyone with balconies over the patio could have slept, if they had turned in early- the families were that loud! This was just one example of the constant barrage of loud mannerless kids and families. Lets face it, the Avenue is one of the most expensive places in Rehobeth. When you pay that much, you expect a quality hotel. Quality means more than just the amenities- it is also the ability to enjoy the amenities and the over-all atmosphere. If we wanted to stay in a three ring circus of a hotel, we would have gone to Ocean City! Good points about the hotel: the shuttle driver, Lou, was fantastic, and the bartender was extremely professional & nice. He seemed dismayed by the events of Saturday night, but largely powerless.

Renee B,

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. I would like to address the issues you have commented on with regards to your stay. First the issue with the tub - I'm extremely sorry this took place at all but do believe that a phone call to the front desk this would have been fixed immediately. As for your key not working the second day - again we apologize. The room keys have a magnetic strip on them that tell the key what room it is to open. If that key comes in contact with a cell phone or anything else with a battery or a magnet - the key will become demagnetized and will need to be reactivated. Now to the issue about the children. I am in total agreement with you regarding the children. We actually spoke to those families at least 4 different times about their children and we have annotated their folios to insure they will not stay with us again in the future. The Avenue Inn is known for being family friendly. However, it is not the job of our front desk staff to watch over children in place of their parents. We want families to have fun, to enjoy their vacation, but not at the expense of other guests. The Avenue no longer accepts baseball teams because of similar issues. When families let their children run wild and those families do not seem to care about what is happening where their children are concerned, those families will be asked to stay somewhere else. The families you mentioned here have been notified that they are not welcome back. Again, I apologize.

Have stayed at other hotels in and near Rehoboth. None can compare to the quality, atmosphere, cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. The hotel had every amenity and is comparable to any boutique hotel in a major city. I would not even consider another hotel in the Rehoboth area after staying here. Only point of a minor surprise is that the room was advertised as having a pool view. .It was if you strained your neck and looked up a floor you could see the fence surrounding the pool. The room actually looked out on the roof and cooling equipment. Did not bother us since we spent all our time at the beach or downtown. Still highly recommend the Hotel.

Room Tip: Do not choose a room saying it overlooks the pool, if that is what you truly want. Chances are you...

WShaf,

Thank you for taking the time to review the Avenue. We happy that you enjoyed your stay at the Avenue. I did want to clarify one thing though - we advertise that it is a Pool Side Queen or Pool Side King room - and then specifically in the description of the room state that this means that the room is on the same side of the building as the pool but that you will not have a view of the pool. Not sure when you made your reservation but we added that description several months ago to be sure there was no confusion. Again, thank you for your business. It is greatly appreciated.
