We stay at the Admiral about three times per year. It has a great location, only steps from the boardwalk and beach, right in the heart of town. It also has a heated indoor pool that is open year round. The prices are reasonable for the location. The only downside is that the beds have seen better days and are so soft you can probably fold them in half. Also, they advertise free wifi, but it has not worked the three times we have stayed this year.

My wife and I visited Rehoboth in the off season to celebrate our anniversary and were disappointed with quality of the Admiral. Other reviews and the photos online paint a very pretty picture of a clean, quaint hotel on the boardwalk with views from some of the rooms and a great indoor pool and friendly staff. When we arrived the staff (a woman who reaked like smoke and her daughter) seemed annoyed that we had showed up and interrupted their conversation. While quick, our check-in process did not set a good mood to start our weekend; there was no mention of how to get to our room, parking, local ammentities, etc. We had to ask everything and it was like pulling teeth.
Once we got to our room (non-smoking w/ a king), it stunk. There was even an ashtray and fly-swatter (or kittylitter scooper?) provided inside near the door. If it was a non-smoking room, it had only been so for a week or two. In addition, the room had no "partial ocean view" as advertised unless we were standing in the doorway. The view from our room was actually of a much nicer looking hotel across the parking lot (the Sands).
After dropping our bags off in the room, we stopped by the pool for swim. I'm pretty sure that the last time chemicals were used to clean the water in that pool was the last time a building inspector dropped by to weigh in on the inadequacy of the greenhouse-like structure above it. Not a pleasant experience.
The one good thing I will say about this hotel is that it does have good location to the central area of Rehoboth and is inexpensive. Unfortunately, we were looking for a good hotel for this trip and not a cheap one. I'll get a second opinion from now on.

Our original plan was to vacation in Ocean City, Maryland. But it was Delmarva Bike Week at Ocean Downs (over 150,000 bikers!) so rooms were scarce. We heard about Rehoboth Beach from friends and family and found the Admiral Motel by searching online. After Labor Day, the daily rates drop dramatically, so we were able to get two connecting rooms for two adults, a teenager and a pre-teen. Our first impression of the motel was how close it was to the boardwalk and beach. Only yards away! Although the rooms do not face the beach directly, you have a more than adequate side view of the beach and ocean by standing on the walkway outside your room. No private terraces, but it hardly mattered. Check in was quick and easy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The motel has 5 floors, and there is an elevator. The rooms were clean, tasteful, and pleasant. Lots of towels, sundries, extra pillows, and informative motel and area information. We had a few minor beefs with our room though. First, our room had an older heating/cooling system. The a/c would cut out and come back on several times during the night. Our kids' room had a newer unit, and it worked much better. Also, our room had plastic covers underneath the sheets that rustled as we slept. A small annoyance. We were also surprised to see that there was no free HBO. And, there were no safes in the rooms (the office has small safes that will hold a small wallet and jewelry). But, none of this REALLY mattered once we hit the beach. Don't forget to bring beach towels with you, and beach chairs and an umbrella if you can! The Admiral does not provide or rent out any of those, and you will have to pay $10 to rent an umbrella and $5 to rent a chair once you get to the beach. If you get tired of the beach, or the weather is not ideal, the Admiral has a small indoor pool (up to 5 feet deep), a semi-private sunbathing terrace and a hot tub (in season). The pool was clean, and the lounge chairs were in excellent condition. The hot tub was nice and toasty, and children under 18 years old were forbidden to use it. We found this out when our 11 year old daughter attempted to stick her toe in. A staff member arrived quickly to let us know the rules. It was then that we noticed a camera focused on the hot tub. There was one focused on the pool too. We also found out that there's a camera in their parking garage, because my husband went out late at night to check that our car doors were locked. We were not put off by the cameras at all, and felt much more secure and safe. There are vending machines on every floor for snacks, juice, etc. All reasonably priced. There's also a small and convenient cafe downstairs that serves breakfast and lunch. Delicious french toast and omelettes. The Admiral is also very convenient to all the area restaurants, stores and boardwalk attractions. Except to go play golf, we never had to use our car to go anywhere. All-in-all a very satisfying vacation. Check around. You'll find that the Admiral has some of the best rates in Rehoboth Beach. A real find!

“Good clean room, close to the beach”

Admiral Hotel

We stayed at the Admiral Hotel for four days/three nights in mid July. Parking garage is a convenient and useful. Check-in and check-out were seamless--we arrived two hours early (room was not ready) but we were able to get our parking pass and park and enjoy the boardwalk. The room (we stayed in a king with sofa sleeper) was clean and a little dated. It was just enough space for two adults and two small children. I didn't like that the refrigerator and microwave was in the bathroom vanity area. Housekeeping was nice and efficient. A dvd player was readily available and we were able to use it for the duration of our stay. The deck and pool were clean and nice.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel for longer stays since the rooms are smaller but for the price and proximity to the beach is worth giving the Admiral Hotel a shot.

“A Great Place to Stay in Rehoboth Beach!”

The Admiral Motel is a great place to stay in Rehoboth Beach! We had two rooms and they were clean and almost completely remodeled with fresh paint, crown moulding, and new carpet and new furniture. There was a refrigerator, microwave, cable TV in an armoire, and an armoire for hanging clothes, and a table with two chairs. We didn't spend much time in our room, so we didn't need much more. If you're used to a suite, than this wouldn't be for you, but the rooms are just nice hotel rooms. The shower had great water pressure, too. The Admiral is less than 1/2 block from the beach and the boardwalk, and just one block away from Rehoboth Avenue (the main drag). Check-in and check-out were very smooth. The only other time we dealt with the front desk was when we were looking for a bottle opener, and we walked away with our very own Admiral Motel bottle opener. Our room rate was $159, which was less than half the price of the Sands across the street. This is a great value. The room rate includes off street parking, which is at a premium in Rehoboth. Our room was on the third floor with a partial view of the beach (see attached picture). The entrance to the rooms are from the outside balcony, which are supplied with two chairs and a table for each room - a wonderful spot for a quick breakfast. There are five floors to this motel, and yes, there is an elevator. The motel was very quiet. There were no vacancies, but I never heard anyone in the adjoining rooms or on the balcony outside. It also seemed very safe - I saw many people that left their beach supplies out on the deck overnight and didn't hear anyone complaining in the morning. There is a small pool on the roof, which the kids loved. It is covered, so it's probably a pretty popular place if it's rainy or cold outside. Off the pool is a deck with a hot tub and lounge chairs. If you have kids, don't miss Funland on the boardwalk, and Creatable Crafts on Rehoboth Avenue is one of those paint our own ceramics place. Not a normal activity for us, but it was fun - especially as a way to cool down and avoid the sun during the heat of the day. The whole experience at the Admiral Motel and Rehoboth Beach was great - I have no complaints at all.
