“Ask for a garden room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2014

Comfortable and secluded, the Bellmoor is one street back from the hubbub on Rehoboth Avenue. Walk into the lobby, it's cool and elegant and old fashioned. Further back, in to the courtyard garden surrounded by two floors of balconied rooms framed by trees, and you forget you're even in Delaware. It looks like Savannah. The breakfasts are catered in (the hotel has no restaurant and no bar) and are delicious. There is an eclectic mix of upholstered seating and tables - enough for everyone to be inside if it's raining, and enough to be outside on the brick patio if it's warm and sunny. Rooms are comfortable and not fussy; a sort of country style. Two blocks from the boardwalk, a ten minute bike ride to Gordons Pond Nature Reserve, and another ten minutes south to Dewey Beach, if you need some bounce in the evening. Don't stay anywhere else.

Room Tip: Ask for a garden room. Each room opens onto the courtyard or the balcony above and has a wooden benc...

We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us & thank you for taking the time to review our property. Our garden area is one of our unique features that sets us apart from other hotels in the area. In the summer months the garden is an oasis, tucked away from the hustle & bustle of the town. It is the perfect place to relax, read a book, and listen to the sounds of the fountains & birds. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Best wishes.

This was our second annual mother/daughter trip. We again had one of the 2 bedroom suites which was perfect for together and alone time. We were able to enjoy the fireplace this trip. The breakfast is delicious, especially the made-on-the-spot omelets. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Hope to return again in the Fall. It is close to the outlets so it would be a great place for early Christmas shopping. The service is good and comes with a smile.

Room Tip: Either of the 2 bedroom suites is lovely....and exactly the same.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this amazing review, we greatly appreciate your feedback. The Fall is a beautiful time here at the beach, quite, warm, & relaxing. The outlets as well as the many shops located in town are perfect for holiday shopping! We look forward to seeing you again soon. Best wishes from all of your friends at The Bellmoor Inn & Spa.

This was our second visit to Bellmoor Inn. Rehoboth Beach is a very nice little town, and much more upscale than the surrounding beach towns. This inn is one of the nicest places to stay. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and a mini-fridge was convenient for our purchases. I wouldn't label the rooms as luxurious (equal to perhaps a nice Holiday Inn or Marriott Garden). The property as a whole is what makes it a wonderful retreat. There are cozy sitting rooms, and a very lovely garden courtyard with tables. Each afternoon, they serve cookies, tea and coffee. The breakfast is amazing, with homemade scones, cinnamon rolls, hot foods, yogurt, granola, all kinds of teas and coffees.

I visited the spa on a previous visit. The massage was quite good. The facial was good as well, but seemed a hard push to buy products. There is a gym with only a couple of machines but adequate enough. The hot tub was very relaxing and very clean. The pool is a bit small.

It is only 3 blocks to the main street and a couple more to the beach. If you are carting a lot to the beach, you might want to drive down, but otherwise it is a nice stroll. Several nice restaurants are only a block or so away.

This hotel is like a miniature Homestead resort tucked away a few blocks from the beach. An easy walk to dinner, shopping and the beach. This was our second stay and sadly we were disappointed with the service. When we asked for anything different than the standard....we were met with blank looks, glares or folks who simply dont want to be bothered. And the requests were pretty minor...a late check out. That took a half an hour for the staff to figure out and required an upgrade to a suite to accomodate on an off season weekday. Asking a server for two plain eggs vs the pre baked breakfast fare was met with a glare and not even an answer. When my husband asked for a coke the server directed him to the front desk who directed him to the vending machines on the second or third floors. We are seasoned travellers and know, and appreciate, an establishment who knows how to train their staff to be customer centric. I privately addressed this hotel with these concerns and their response was clearly that they did not care. I guess they feel looks over substance are all that matters. My travel dollars will not be wasted here again. If I want a bed and no service...there is a Quality Suites close by where I can get stale breakfast and a place to sleep a block closer to the beach for 1/3 the price.

Room Tip: Ask for a garden or poolside view to keep away from street noise.
