“Oasis in downtown Rehoboth Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012

The Bellmoor is a lovely hotel in downtown Rehoboth. The public spaces are comfortable and elegantly decorated; the courtyard filled with tables and chairs is a shady and wonderful lounging area; the two pools, one for adults only are great. Our room 207 was very clean and well decorated with windows to the east and west, even in the small bathroom, overlooking the garden. The wall air conditioning unit was a little noisy. The breakfasts varied over three days and were good with variety. Loved drinking coffee and reading the papers after a walk on the beach. The beach is a nice two block walk away, down tree lined streets. Excellent restaurants and shopping are a nearby. Once there you never have to get in your car until you leave. The staff at the Bellmoor were helpful and of good humor. It is at the top of what we like to pay for a room, however, off season we will be back. Not really a good place for small children though.

Room Tip: The garden rooms overlook the beautiful garden on the front....207 had a nice view down a treelined...

We love this inn-we have stayed here several times and it does not disappoint.
The rooms are clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. Service from the staff
excellent.
There are also good restaurants nearby: The Cultured Pearl (sushi) is a favorite and
we love the Dogfish Brew Pub for lunch.
A quick but fun getaway!

Room Tip: We had the junior suite which was lovely.

Our stay was very comfortable. We liked the amenities offered by your hotel very much, especially the underground parking. However, several things were not up to YOUR standards.

1. The safe in one Newbold Suite bedroom was inoperative because the battery was dead. One bedside light in the same bedroom also had a burned-out bulb. Housekeeping staff should have caught both of these issues before we occupied the suite.

2. The safe in the other bedroom locked up and could not be opened, even by Cheryl. She had to contact "higher authority" to open it for us. Meanwhile, our spare cash and camera were held hostage in the safe.

3. You furnished top-of-the-line audio players in the second bedroom and living room, BUT despite my attempts to turn off the alarm, both woke us up in the wee hours of the morning with an alarm that I had a very hard time turning off. That really disturbed my sleep. Again, if you are going to furnish equipment with a non-intuitive interface, please make sure that housekeeping resets all alarms to OFF prior to each occupancy.

4. Finally, and this is more than just a nuisance, the water jet tubs were a nice addition, but it was not at all easy to climb in and out of them because of the high wall and the lack of a grab bar on the near wall (though there was one on the far tub wall, but holding onto that and stepping over the high tub wall requires gymnastics that challenge us older folk), AND ... the bottom surface of the tub was dangerously slippery, especially in light of the lack of a grab bar to assist in exiting, and there was no tub mat to overcome the slippery surface. My wife almost had a bad fall in the tub as a result. One of these days, you will no doubt face a negligence law suit from a guest that is injured as a result of these dangers.

Other than that...

Room Tip: Newbold Suite was exceptionally well appointed, though Housekeeping was wanting in details mentioned...

We decided on the Bellmoor at Rehoboth Beach for our 20th Anniversary. Walking through the front entrance we were overwhelmed by the country manor elegance. We were greeted by Morgan who wished us a happy anniversary and gave suggestions for where to celebrate. We stayed on the 4th floor, Dagsworthy Suite. Polished dark wood floors, oriental rugs, custom upholstery, and mahogany furnishings line the hallways, library and guest suites. King bed covered with deluxe, high thread count sheets and 6 perfect pillows. Robes and an abundance of plush towels in the bath. Adult pool and grounds were "library quiet", perfect when that's just what you want. Otherwise, it's a quick walk across 2nd street to the best restaurants & cocktails in Rehoboth. This is a B&B, serving breakfast from 7:30-10:30, yummy omelets and cheese scones on the weekends. Worth every penny for this kind of luxury at the beach.

Take time out from the bustling, humid metropolitan summmer and step into the peaceful, fountain-splashing, brick terraced, cool of the courtyard garden at the Bellmoor Inn in Rehoboth Beach. Garden rooms look out over a white bannistered porch to the garden. Interior rooms lead directly to the pool, the whirlpool, and the spa. The Bellmoor is two blocks from the boardwalk and the beach, has plenty of covered parking for both bikes and cars, and a warm and efficient staff. No bar or restaurant, but who could complain - as breakfast is a daily wonder: fresh scones in five or more flavours, two or three hot dishes (with real maple syrup!), eggs cooked in front of you any style, and lots of fresh fruit. Tea and cookies are available in the afternoon. We stay at least twice a year and divide our time biking to Henlopen Park, reading by the pool(s), and dining out at a variety of great restaurants. Four of the best (Confucius, Salt Air, Oyster Bar, and new Cabo) are within 100 yards. The Bellmoorl is the reason why I sign myself: Mrs. Rehoboth.

From the moment my daughter and I entered the Inn we were warmly welcomed by all staff members. Our room was immaculate, beautifully appointed, and comfortable. We each received several spa services. My massage therapist, Edie, was uniquely qualified to not only assess my needs, but executed her professional skills in such a manner so as to instill a sense of calm which left me feeling so much better than when I arrived. My daugter and I both had wonderful facial services by Tabitha, whose skills are second to none and who is wonderfully delightful.

All of the above will ensure that we will return to your lovely Inn as frequently as time permits.

Thank you.

Life is good, but life is especially good when I stay at the Bellmoor. I have traveled extensively throughout the world, but I have to admit, the Bellmoor is one of my favorite places. The people behind the desk are special, the atmosphere is special, as is the decor. All of the guest rooms are spacious and lovely. I can assure you that you will enjoy the Bellmoor in a "special" way!

Room Tip: I have only stayed in the main building, but the rooms surrounding the garden seem quite picturesque...
