We stay at the Atlantis Inn every year with a group called Greyhounds Reach The Beach. We have such a wonderful time at Rehoboth, DE. The General Manager Cheryl Benson welcomes all of us with open arms, she is such a lovely person.

Your cleaning staff is also very nice. Thank you for letting us stay each year.

Dorothy, Steve Katz and my adopted greyhound Sapphire.

The Room:
The room we stayed had a king bed, with pull out couch. The room itself is definitely big enough for a family of four. The room itself, it’s the nicest room I’ve stayed in, but great if you plan on traveling with a dog or just plan on hitting the beach for a few days. When I vacation at the beach, it’s to visit the beach, not hang out in the hotel the whole time, if you’re looking for a 4 Star hotel, stay in one. The beds are not that bad, yes they could use some new bed spreads, but they’re there to keep you warm, not win a beauty contest. The pullout had sheets, blankets, and a pillow in the closet.

The Hotel Itself:

Over all we had a great stay. There’s a wonderful pool and a great sun deck to lay out on if you’re not big into the beach. The beach itself is about 300 yards away. Yes, their site says 1.5 blocks, but they’re long blocks. It’s a nice walk. The staff loves dogs! I’ve stayed at places that “allow” dogs, but when I walk in with my 90lb. Weimaraner, they look at me like I’ve lost my mind. He was loved and very entertained. The AC, TV, water pressure, phone, remote… all were fine and worked well. There were not coffee makers in the rooms, for you coffee/tea drinkers.

Things to Do:

You truly couldn’t ask for a better location! There are many places to eat ranging from Thrasher’s French fries on the boardwalk to fine dinning on the other side of the street. There are many shops to poke around through and again, the beach isn’t too far of a walk, even with kids.

Cons:

The only problem I had with the hotel was with the manager. When calling the hotel and inquiring about a price, I was quoted one number, when checking in I was told a completely different. Apparently, when I inquired about the price, the staff member I spoke with was wrong and misinformed. I approached the manager (the same manager that informed me the staff member was wrong and misinformed) to figure out the issue and she wanted NO part in the discussion. She was rude; she wouldn’t listen and told me it was my “fault for not booking the night I called the first time”. As I explained to her, obviously rates will change, that’s expected. I wasn’t looking for a free nights stay however I was looking for an apology and “I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen to future guests”. I didn’t get either of those…

PROS:
Affordable.
Convenient
Free Wi-Fi
Free parking.
Rooftop swimming pool (but small)

CONS:
The entire property is in need of a major renovation. Everything from furniture to bedspreads to sheets to carpets and draperies seemed to have been in service since the 80's. And they were probably not in style even when they were new. Really bad taste.

Overall, there was a kind of dingy feel (I don't mean unclean, necessarily) to the rooms. Spotty lighting.

No exhaust fan or night light in the toilet/shower. And door would not fully close, so if one needed to see one's way to the toilet in the middle of the night, the full overhead light would need to be left on, which cast a beam of light into the sleeping area all night long.

A fridge and a microwave were provided, but no coffee maker. Coffee was provided in the lobby, with styrofoam cups and condiments. But one had to leave one's room to go downstairs and get it.

Service from the front desk was very uneven, ranging from a very friendly guy in the afternoons to some surly young females in the morning and evening. There was a lot of attitude, mostly negative, and some of the employees were not well informed about the property, so if you might be needing some concierge-type assistance, forget about it! Not here.

Did not sleep well here. Not great beds.

Inadequate number of clothes hangers provided. There were a total of five hangers, and when we asked for additional ones, they could not supply any more. Many of their rentals, according to the front desk, are for several days in a row. Point being that if someone is going to stay for four or five days, and there are two (or maybe three) guests in the room, five hangers does not even begin to be helpful.

Room size was quite small. When one of us was sitting at the desk using the computer, the other had to crawl over the bed to get to the bathroom.

Wi-Fi, though free, was slow, and on the morning we checked out, could not gain internet access at all.

Guest Laundry room barely adequate (better than none), but laundry detergent dispenser was not working, and one of the two clothes dryers was not in service. It's also a bit of a trek from the main guest rooms to the laundry room at the back of the property. And it's not connected to the main building, so if it happens to be raining (and it was) you and your freshly dried clothes get wet!

Air conditioner's louvers were stationary, and could not be adjusted. The cold air was blowing directly on the person's head who was sleeping nearest the window. Noisy as well. (We traded sides of the bed during the night to keep our heads from chilling.)

The office-type chair provided for the desk was supposed to be raised or lowered. The one in my room would do neither, although the lever for it to do so was there.

All said, we were already shopping around the downtown area looking at other hotels the morning after we checked in. And if we had not been required to pay in full for our entire stay before we checked in, we would have been gone before checkout time.

We will definitely be returning to Rehoboth Beach, but we will definitely not be staying here.

We stayed here July 5-8, right after the holiday. Nice basic hotel with a terrific location only a few blocks from the beach. Room was neat and clean with ample amenities. Comfortable setting and we got a very nice price for the middle of the summer ($80 per night). No complaints - highly recommend for a good value.

Just returned from a delightful few days at the Atlantis Inn in Rehoboth Beach. This is an excellent value, no-frills property, perfect for the self-reliant traveler who enjoys the beach and its amenities.

The room made no pretenses to opulence, but was clean, spacious, and well-appointed, with appropriately serviceable appliances and wonderful facilities, all in excellent working order. The bathroom looks to have been very recently renovated. Sparkling clean, and one of the best-performing showers I can recall. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. The facility staff were unfailingly pleasant and very helpful. The outdoor pool, though small, was clean and refreshing. And the property is on Rehoboth's main street, in the midst of the charming boutiques and restaurants, and a mere block from the beach and boardwalk.

The traveler who prefers to march to his or her own nutritional and schedule drummer will find at the Atlantis Inn, for a reasonable rate, a "suite" style room with m/w and fridge, and an endless pot of hot coffee in the lobby in the AM. (One minor annoyance: no hair dryers in the rooms. Would it really be so much trouble and expense to add those to the stock amenities?) And, as an extra convenience and courtesy, one can leave one's car parked at the Inn on checkout day, enjoy another day at the beach, and then shower off in the Inn's auxiliary facility before heading home. Almost like an extra day free! :-)

I will definitely return to the Atlantis Inn for future beach excursions.
