“Nice location, uncomfortable beds”

Atlantis Inn

Save Review
2 of 5 stars
Annapolis, MD
Aug 9, 2008

WE stayed in this hotel for a long weekend in late July. The location was good, close to restaurants, shopping, and a short walk to the beach. Be aware though that the blocks are very long and though a block and a half doesn't sound long, it can feel long. There is a little pool on the top floor, which was okay but there was always someone smoking right near the pool, which made it undesirable, especially for children.
To be honest, there were people smoking everywhere at the hotel. There were always people smoking on their "balconies" whenever I had to walk by with my toddler, so I would not recommend this hotel to anyone concerned about smoking because there is obviously not a strict smoking policy.
The beds were very uncomfortable, I hardly slept the entire time. After seeing so many positive reviews I was a bit disappointed. I think this is a good place if you are coming with your friends to hit the bars but not a great place for a family with young children. Maybe okay if your kids are older but I definitely would not recommend bringing an infant here.

All in all, the main draw is the location but other than that it is a bit below average.

“Could be better”

Atlantis Inn

This is a definitely a motel and not an inn in any sense. The receptionists were very friendly upon arrival but the towels and clothing hanging off almost every railing upon arriving were not the most welcoming sight. The room itself smelled of Clorox so you at least had the impression it was clean (which the sleeping area and vanity appeared to be) but the bathroom had water stained ceiling tile and black mold around the floor tiles. The beds were comfortable (compared to previous ratings no apparent bed springs) but the blankets had holes in them. The location is definitely a plus as you are within walking distance of the beach, restaurants and all shopping. Overall, a disappointment and definitely would not return.

“Disappointed in registration staff and room quality”

Atlantis Inn

Jul 27, 2008

We stayed at the Atlantis Inn in late July and were pleased with the location of the hotel but quite disappointed in the quality of the room and the registration staff.

The beds were obviously old and in need of replacement. You can feel the springs in the mattresses. The sheets and covers are at the level of a budget motel. Keep in mind that sheets don't get changed daily unless you specifically ask for that to be done. There are also was a strong musty odor to the room.

Most disappointing were the registration staff. They came across as impersonal, inpatient and generally bothered - both at inital registartion and on later interactions.

On the positive side, the location of the hotel is good. It is advertised as 1 1/2 blocks from the beach. Technically that is correct, but beware that these are long blocks. Proximity to restaurants and other entertainment venues was good.

“"Good Times"”

Atlantis Inn

My family has stayed at the Atlantis Inn for MANY years and will continue to do so. The staff is very friendly and helpful, nothing is a problem for them. One year, the battery in the car was dead and the car would not start. An employee helped us with the problem. This year our TV remote would not work during the night. The clerk at the main desk helped us with our delemma. The rooms are adequately cleaned. The location of the hotel is central to everything. The beach is 1 1/2 blocks, our favorite eatting places are in a 1 block radius, the bike shop, the game room, miniature golfing, and the coffee shop are also in a 1 block radius. We never have to move our car once we get there. This year they provided us wiht information on the outlets, gave us a free coupon for a Del Sol convas bag (cool), and let us keep our car in the lot after check out for our last walk around Rehoboth.

“great location, just ok motel”

The Atlantis Inn is located perfectly for a family with kids. We walked everywhere. The pool was refreshing after being on the beach all day. The staff was very nice, with everyone greeting us everytime we saw them, including the housekeeping staff. My only real complaint was the beds. I could feel the springs in the mattress and as someone with a bad back, I had a hard time sleeping. My only other suggestion for the motel would be to install clotheslines in the bathroom so we would have a place to hang wet towels and bathing suits overnight. Overall, a reasonable value for the money.

Management Response
ChrisBerg, Director of Sales
(Management representative)

Thank you very much for taking the time to submit your feedback about the Atlantis Inn! We know very well that a happy staff makes for happy guests! Thank you for mentioning them.
The hotel loves to receive feedback while guests are still on property so I hope you made your concerns about the bedding known. Whenever we hear of mattress concerns, we want to make sure they're addressed promptly so not to facilitate a sleepless night for anyone else! If you haven't done so already, please let us know the room number so we can replace any substandard mattress.
Being at the beach, the clothesline would be a huge convenience and the hotel recognizes the need. However, as a family-friendly hotel, a great many of our guests include very young children. The clotheslines, while beneficial to some, can pose a safety threat to our young guests. That being said, I will research some alternatives to see what might be a safe, acceptable alternative that will still satisfy the need. Thank you for that recommendation.

Best Regards,
Christopher Berg
Director of Sales
