Atlantis Inn

My family has stayed at the Atlantis Inn for MANY years and will continue to do so. The staff is very friendly and helpful, nothing is a problem for them. One year, the battery in the car was dead and the car would not start. An employee helped us with the problem. This year our TV remote would not work during the night. The clerk at the main desk helped us with our delemma. The rooms are adequately cleaned. The location of the hotel is central to everything. The beach is 1 1/2 blocks, our favorite eatting places are in a 1 block radius, the bike shop, the game room, miniature golfing, and the coffee shop are also in a 1 block radius. We never have to move our car once we get there. This year they provided us wiht information on the outlets, gave us a free coupon for a Del Sol convas bag (cool), and let us keep our car in the lot after check out for our last walk around Rehoboth.

The Atlantis Inn is located perfectly for a family with kids. We walked everywhere. The pool was refreshing after being on the beach all day. The staff was very nice, with everyone greeting us everytime we saw them, including the housekeeping staff. My only real complaint was the beds. I could feel the springs in the mattress and as someone with a bad back, I had a hard time sleeping. My only other suggestion for the motel would be to install clotheslines in the bathroom so we would have a place to hang wet towels and bathing suits overnight. Overall, a reasonable value for the money.

Thank you very much for taking the time to submit your feedback about the Atlantis Inn! We know very well that a happy staff makes for happy guests! Thank you for mentioning them.
The hotel loves to receive feedback while guests are still on property so I hope you made your concerns about the bedding known. Whenever we hear of mattress concerns, we want to make sure they're addressed promptly so not to facilitate a sleepless night for anyone else! If you haven't done so already, please let us know the room number so we can replace any substandard mattress.
Being at the beach, the clothesline would be a huge convenience and the hotel recognizes the need. However, as a family-friendly hotel, a great many of our guests include very young children. The clotheslines, while beneficial to some, can pose a safety threat to our young guests. That being said, I will research some alternatives to see what might be a safe, acceptable alternative that will still satisfy the need. Thank you for that recommendation.

Best Regards,
Christopher Berg

“Top Notch”

Atlantis Inn

Jul 8, 2008

We have been staying at the Atlantis Inn for the last 6 years. We spend our anniversary and family vacations there. The staff at the Atlantis is wonderful to say the least. Dave is terrific! He makes you feel more like a friend then a guest. I have seen him go out of his way to say welcome back to guest and ask them if they are enjoying their stay. Cheryl always seems to have a smile to share with people. She trys to accomidate your needs to the best of her ability. Every time we have stayed the rooms are always very clean. We noticed the new carpet, very nice. To all the staff at the Atlantis Inn Thanks for making us feel at home and welcome.

Thank you, Jen and Ed, for your feedback and continued patronage! The Atlantis Inn is so fortunate to have a great deal of returning guests. While I'm not sure what the percentage is exactly, a day doesn't go by when we don't see a familiar face checking back into the hotel. We're honored to continue to serve as your lodging choice in Rehoboth!

David and Cheryl are definitely two of the most friendly and hospitable people I've ever met. Service like theirs is something that simply can't be taught and luckily it's contagious to not only the rest of our staff, but also to our guests. They truly take the importance of your vacation to heart. They'll love to hear you've recognized their service.

Thanks for noticing the new carpet which we installed this spring. As you've probably noticed, each year the Atlantis Inn makes huge changes to guest accommodations and experience items based on guest feedback. Topping well over a million dollars in just the past couple years, we have big plans for this fall and bigger ideas moving into the future!

Thanks again for your feedback and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Warm Regards,
Christopher Berg

“Really wanted it to be better...”

Atlantis Inn

Jul 8, 2008

I booked this hotel anticipating a little more after reading the reviews. The room itself was okay, though it definetly had a musty smell. The first day was actually pretty decent, we were going to stay there 3 nights and were quite happy with the location. It is about an eight minute walk from the beach.

The problems developed after housekeeping visitied the first day. They were in our room because the bed was made, but none of the towels had been replaced, leaving us with no towels, and the plastic cups and ice bucket bag wasn't either.

Another problem cropped up when requesting a wake-up call. The front-desk is staffed primarily by what appears to be high-school aged boys who play computer games all day. We also saw one of the front-desk staff members hassling people in front of the hotel to impress some girls by trying to sell goldfish. Very unprofessional. Anyway, we wanted to see the sunrise. Well guess what, they forgot to set it and we woke up 20 minutes too late.

The biggest issue though was the water temperature in the showers. The only way that could describe it is dangerous. The water would vary from ice cold to scalding hot. We didn't have kids with us, but I would seriously consider not staying here with children based solely on this. At one point, I had to jump out of the shower because of the temp change and almost getting scalded.

Overall, I'd say, don't stay here. Stay at the Avenue Inn or Avenue Inn 2 after checking them out, they seem to be a good value.

I'm sorry to hear your experience with the Atlantis Inn was less than satisfactory. Please accept my apology for any shortcomings we may have made in our service to you and your party, and know that we take your feedback very seriously. Please know, the management has taken steps to ensure any inconsistencies in service you experienced were addressed to help avoid any problems for future guests.

You didn't mention in your review, but I hope you reported the housekeeping amenity shortages to the Front Desk so they could be delivered to you promptly by a member of our service team.

I'm sorry to hear about the wake-up call being missed, but judging by the actions you mentioned, it doesn't sound like you received the attention of the young men working at the time you should have. I apologize for this. The young men you mentioned were, in the most politically-correct sense, disciplined for not doing their job.

It's my understanding the person trying to give away the goldfish was a guest who was leaving the hotel and pushing the "guys" to take the fish. In lieu of flushing the fish, it's my understanding they were trying to help out. That's the information I've gathered based on other guest feedback I received applauding the gentlemen for helping the troubled guest out. I am sorry to hear this situation took precedence over the needs of others.

And lastly, regarding the water temperature in the showers, this is definitely something that can be easily fixed when brought to our attention. While rare, the shower valves contain rubber parts which can adjust over time from usage causing an inbalance in the single valve system. These are easily replaced and I hope you notified the Front Desk so this could be done while you were still on property. If not, please be so kind to let the hotel or myself know which room was affected so the problem can be addressed. The Atlantis Inn switched to the Rinnai system (On-demand Hot Water System) in 2006 from the standard boiler/hot water systems to avoid any temperature inconsistencies those types of antiquated systems typically experience.

Again, I sincerely apologize for the missed opportunities we had while you were a visitor to our hotel. I hope, if given the opportunity, you'll return to allow us to prove we are better than your previous experience may have indicated. Please feel free to contact me any time if you'd like to discuss your experience further.

Sincerely,
Christopher Berg

“Great location and clean!!”

Atlantis Inn

Jul 8, 2008

We decided to stay at this hotel based on other reviews here. Staff was nice, room was clean, location was great. The furnishings in the room seemed new and were in great shape. Nice tile in bathroom and nice countertop. Room had a decent sized refrigerator and microwave. The only thing I really didn't like about this room (218) was the lack of privacy. The rooms have outside access and this means that everybody walking to their rooms can look in your window if the curtains are open. This is a problem because the only room with a door is the bathroom which is very small with just a toilet and shower. The sink is on the other side of the door in the main area with the beds. We had to keep the curtain closed a lot or risk giving someone a show when we wanted to get dressed. That being said, I would definitely stay here again because it was close to beach, not too expensive and most of all very clean!!
