“Great food and plenty of variety”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

This fun buffet is a favorite for any visitor, with lots of choices, a nice price for the all-you-care-to-eat diner, and a fine a la carte menu. Fresh, tasty food at a reasonable price!

“Very Good Overall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2012

We have visited this establishment on three occasions and with the exception of the last visit, the food was exceptional, the service was fine (it's a self serve buffet) and the environment was comfortable and clean. On our first two visits the three main serving stations were filled with a fresh, still-steaming variety of mostly asian/chinese dishes. So far I have sampled the pepper steak the goyoza and dim-sum the sauteed string beans, the peel away shrimp, the pork with scallions, the peanut chicken, general "chows" chicken, honey chicken, the sushi, the baked (stuffed) shrimp, and on and on. Everything was consistently authentic, fresh and well prepared. I never expect restaurant quality food at a Chinese Buffet, but this place delivers just that. The only minor negative was our last visit, which was memorial day. The quality of the offerings was up to par, but the serving trays were not as swiftly re-filled and the food not as fresh and hot as I grown used to. All in all, the chinatown buffet and grill is a fine place to satisfy that urge for chinese food.

“Great Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2011

No complaints at all about this buffett.
Tremendous selection - from Dim Sum to pizza. Friendly, attentive staff. Priced right.
It's about a 20-mile drive from my home in Ocean City, so we couple it with a shopping spree in tax-free Delaware, and have our lunch there. This place is so good that we plan on going back for their dinner sometime, just to see how good they do that meal!
One of the better Chinese buffets you'll encounter in the Mid-Atlantic region.
One more thing: The bathroom was spotless.

“Visiting the Delware Beach Resorts and want a quick but GOOD Chinese meal?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

I am a Chinese food fanatic. AND, I have been to MANY Chinese buffets in many cities and several countries (sadly not China). This restaurant, which serves few locals and mostly beach tourists, is up there with the best of them. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is the lack of variety. Their menu is nearly identical day in, day out, year in, year out. BUT, since the food is excellent, maybe that is not a bad thing?

A few basics about this kind of food. This is "Chinese-AMERICAN" cuisine. It bares little resemblance to REAL Chinese food! However, this is what MOST Americans mean by "Chinese" food.

My favorite dish at this buffet is the Chow Mei Fun. Fine noodles with a little pork, shrimp and veggies. It is neither greasy nor salty here. It IS tasty. Their "hot and sour" soup is neither hot nor sour, but it IS excellent. More like an "OO" soup in other restaurants. I add some of their freshly chopped scallions and a dollop of hot crushed pepper sauce to my bowl. I am sure I could request and get rice vinegar, if I wanted. The soup is loaded with mushroom stems and tofu.

Their other soups are also excellent. Although I am addicted to hot and sour soup, I will sometimes take wontons in egg drop soup! That is one of the joys of a buffet. You can easily do that! I do prefer my wontons a bit softer than theirs, but this is not a fault.

They offer a variety of dim sums, too. All have been excellent.

There are three long tables with food. Two are steam tables with hot food (hot temperature wise). NONE of their dishes are really hot spice wise. Spice heat is available with the sauce I add to my hot and sour soup). They will have a mixed seafood dish with snow cabbage. A chicken with broccoli dish and several seafood dishes for those who like shell fish such as mussels. They also have some purely American dishes like pizza. As well as Chinese seasoned fried chicken wings and chicken on a stick. This dish USED to be sort of teriyaki, but was recently changed into a seasoning dusted, fried, chicken. The restaurant also does a wonderful poached salmon. NOT Chinese at all, but I love it!

I also particularly enjoy their pepper chicken and Peking duck, when available. Their Chinese style roast chicken is also excellent. They make am excellent shrimp dish that are shrimps stuffed with some sort of mixture that may contain crab meat.

The food is put out in small amounts so that it does NOT sit long. This is VERY important for a buffet to be good. It means you can count on the food being at least moderately fresh.

IF you want VERY fresh, there is someone at the back of the restaurant with a grill. There you can order grilled steak, shrimp or other dishes the way YOU want them. This is included in the very reasonable pricing, but you may wish to tip the grill cook separately.

There is enough variety for EVERYONE'S taste.

The back long table is cold, not hot. It has desserts, salad stuff and something reputed to be one of the five healthiest foods, Kim Chi! If you are not familiar with kKim Chi and you like spicy, salty, fermented veggies, TRY IT. It is the Korean equivalent of sauerkraut, but is can be quite spicy. Also, the flavor varies with the age and degree of fermentation. There are theories that Kim Chi has some antiviral properties!

As with the hot foods, there are a wide variety of desserts. Everything from cookies and cakes to fresh fruit to pudding and ice cream. I love a little of their vanilla ice cream on top of tapioca pudding. They sometimes also have fried red bean and sesame balls.

Finally, all too many Chinese restaurants everywhere rely on MSG for flavor instead of good cooking. NOT THIS restaurant. Both my wife and I are VERY sensitive to MSG. Headaches, sweats, cardiac effects. YOU name it, we get it. We are able to eat here with NO adverse effects!

Even the decor is pleasant, and I - personally - LOVE the background music favored by the place. But I love "elevator" music.

If you are out at the Delaware beach resorts, either as a local or enjoying the tax free shopping at the outlets and the beach, with or without kids, this is a GREAT place for an informal meal.
