We have a couple of good friends who lived in Columbia, Maryland when we first met them. Several years ago, they moved to Rehoboth Beach to partake in the good life. One has made a name for himself as the Rehoboth Foodie. No visit to the Delaware shore would be complete without dinner with our good friends.
On this trip, they took us to the Henlopen City Oyster House.
Now, before I go on with this tale, just let me say that my wife was no fan of oysters. She agreed, however, to try the fried oyster appetizer, It was the first time I had seen fried oysters served with chicken salad, I think I ate more than my fair share of the oysters, and I do not regret it, By the way, although my wife liked the chicken salad more than the oysters, I considered it an empirical victory when sh ate her second oyster without making a face.
For my entree I chose the crab cakes. Coming from Baltimore, I was glad that they were not portrayed as Maryland crab cakes. While they were good, they would not be mistaken for the original -- different look, different size and different taste,
I would be remiss if I did not comment on our server. She was pretty, personable and most helpful--a true professional.
It looks as if we found another restaurant to add to the 'must return' list.
