“Fun Happy Hour !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Right on the main strip we had a nice happy hour at Claws. Everything from raw oysters that were super yum to the steamed clams. We were lucky enough to find a spot at the bar and also enjoyed the fish n chips and the Yuengling draft for $2. The staff was fun to talk to and the bartender was really nice too.

Thanks for dropping a review. We are keeping our happy hour rolling into the winter, in addition to the football menu on Saturdays and Sundays. Enjoy your holiday weekend, and we hope to see you again next time you are in town!

“Old School Seafood Place, excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

This restaurant inside of an old house on Rehoboth Avenue is one of our favorites in the town of amazing restaurants. Its old school seafood, they don't put on aires, nor do they cater to the high end design of restaurants that look like museums. Maybe that's why when we go there we see as many locals eating as visitors.
This is the second time we've been there this year, we live 160 miles away. We were in town for one night only and this was our choice for dinner!
The seafood never disappoints, they have great daily specials both in and out of season, and a good selection of bottled and draft beers. We have eaten both inside and outside on the porch. We like the porch best as you can sit and eat and watch the town go by as you dine on Rehoboth Avenue! Don't worry about cool weather as they enclose the porch with clear awnings and have heaters. We've only been there once when the porch was closed to dinning.
They have very good desserts from enormous and light and fresh strawberry shortcake as well as an excellent turtle cheesecake and yup, Fried Twinkies with cinnamon ice cream.
I feel that they deserve to have a higher placement on the ranking, but Rehoboth is a tough town for restaurants. Claws certainly deserves to be in the top 25% if not the top 10%. Service is very friendly and attentive without being "in your face" all the time, which is a plus.

Thank you so much for your review. We are glad that you keep coming back! We should be breaking out the heaters soon, as it is supposed to be under 50 degrees on Sunday night! Hope you had a great Summer. We look forward to seeing you again!

“Great seafood and fun view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

There are a number of seafood restaurants in the Delaware Beach area, but one that stands out is Claws Crab House. It is located on Rehoboth Avenue, just a few blocks from the boardwalk and the Atlantic Ocean.

Inside dining is ample and includes a full bar area; however, the favorite area of ours is the outside, covered porch. Being located right on Rehoboth Avenue, it is fun, as this is the street with all the tourist activities occur. The street is filled with shops, ice creams stands, etc., so it is a great place to dine and enjoy one’s surroundings. Off season, Claws is still a fun place to eat and watch the street activities. The restaurant is clean and the bathrooms are large and well kept.

The food is excellent and hot meals are served hot. Having lived in the beach area for a number of years and return often, we have eaten at several seafood restaurants, yet we enjoy Claws Crab House the most and bring friends and family. On our recent visit, we started with an appetizer, Mussels in a tasty homemade marinara sauce, with dipping bread for $9.99. The Shrimp Tacos came with chips and a freshly made mild salsa was excellent for $10.99. The Grilled Chicken topped with their own BBQ sauce was moist and quite tasty, which two sides (yummy hush puppies and cold slaw) for $14.99. The Pink Lemonade was refreshing, as was the Guiness.

Prices vary, but there is quite an excellent food selection to choose from for all ages and for all budgets in a beach resort town.

“can't beat happy hour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

Went on a Friday afternoon. Happy hour at the bar cannot be beat! $2 Miller Lites and $5 seafood specials. Check their website for the deals. It's worth the trip there. My advice is to go at an odd hour, like 2pm. The bar fills up quickly b/c it's small.

Thanks for leaving a review. If you ever take a weekend off in the fall, feel free to stop in. We recently debuted a new football menu, that has items such as kielbasa, pulled pork, and seafood spring rolls. Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon!

“Crab eating tutorial!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

We were heading bAck to NY from our trip to cape Hatteras and stopped off at Rehoboth beach. Wanted crabs so so Claws was the place to go. Sitting at the bar I began hacking at my blue claw. Well, Amy our bartender said "call 911 this person is committing a crime against a crab". With that I got a complete lesson from Amy and another patron, Elizabeth, sitting next to us on how to properly eat a crab. I surely learned alotmthat nite andni have been eating crabs for many years!! The crabs were meaty, sweet and oh so fresh!! It was a GREAT stop with attentive fun service.

Thank you for dropping a review. Elizabeth is one of our regulars, and she never hesitates to help out anybody who is sitting at the bar with menu questions or drink inquiries. Amy will be glad to hear that you mentioned her. So glad that you enjoyed your experience and hope that you stop in next time you pass through!
