My partner and I were exhausted after several intense weeks at work, and a friend suggested a beach getaway. Thankfully, our friend also suggested staying with Melissa at her wonderful B&B! The property is so quaint and the inn keeper is superb! Everthing we could have wanted for our beach week was right there! We did not even have to bring beach towels or chairs! We will definitely be back.

“Almost like staying at your own beach house”

We've stayed at Melissas's twice this summer (2007) and loved it. If you're looking for a relaxing, comfortable, wonderful old beach house where the owner just lets you be as if it's your own house, then this is the place for you. This is not your typical B&B with lots of fancy antiques and lots of house rules. While it is a bit pricey, you get a lot for your money: a big, delicious breakfast that includes juices, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, sausage or bacon, homemade cakes and homemade waffles (that you make yourself) every day. On weekends, Melissa makes an extra special hot breakfast item. There is also a 24/7 coffee/cappuccino maker, as well as bottled water and sodas. Plus, there is beer and wine whenever you want -- yes, you can just sit on the front porch and drink a lovely glass of wine and watch the world go by. In fact, the porch is one of the best parts of the house, where we ate breakfast every morning and relaxed every afternoon after returning from the beach. You can also eat breakfast in the back yard under a big umbrella, where there is a grill for guests' use should you want to eat dinner "at home." Melissa also provides coolers, beach umbrellas and towels. The only house "rule" is that you have to leave your keys on the kitchen window sill in case Melissa has to move your car, because the owners next door have been less than cooperative with the parking situation. Still, you do have a place to park which is a real plus in Rehoboth. The house is in an ideal location -- less than two blocks from the beach, stores and restaurants. Melissa is not one of those B&B owners is always under foot or overly talkative, but she is available if you need her. The atmosphere at the house is warm and relaxing where you can just come and go as you please -- just perfect for a great stay at the beach.

At Melissa's is a relaxing, comfortable beach house about 2 blocks from the beach. We stayed in a king-sized room (with a daybed) and had a private bathroom just across the hall. This was the least expensive, at $210 during high season (before taxes). While prices in Rehoboth during the season are sky-high no matter where you go, it still seemed a bit pricey. But she offers many perks. The big front porch was a nice place to enjoy breakfast (such as the do-it-yourself waffles, or egg casserole.) There was a hammock and enclosed shower outside, free beach towels and chairs, complimentary wine (Yellow Tail while we were there) and sodas. Free parking at the house as well. We didn't see Melissa much while we were there, but she offers candid advice on the restaurants in the area (e.g. The Back Porch isn't what it used to be, while she says Espuma is probably the best.) We visited both restaurants (which were fairly pricey) and liked them both for different reasons.

Melissa anticipates her guests' every need and provides a no-stress, pampered environment for all. Her knowledge of the area is one resource among many that she is glad to share with her guests; taking all the guess-work out of where to eat, shop or get around. We were initially attracted to atMelissa's B&B because it seemed to be one of the only Rehoboth B&B's that allowed children and a one-night stay. Of course, had we known what a jewel atMelissa's would be, we would have made a point of extending our time in Rehoboth! Her home was warm, friendly, accomodating, clean and comfortable and her breakfast was executed as thoroughly and skillfully as she does everything else. Melissa has found the delicate balance between catering to your every need, yet not being a hovering fixture during your stay; she really has the whole thing down to an art!
