“The best slice around!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

I lived here over a decade ago and it was the best slice I ever had. Over the years, I've come back to visit and while I've tried other pizza in my travels, Margherita's holds up to having among the best slice around. Which slice, you ask? I've tried several with different toppings and the crust doesn't disappoint.

“maybe the best NY style pizza in the area...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

Good pizza, but can be slightly hit or miss. Sometimes the by the slice can be dry and the topping combinations are not particularly diverse or inventive for a NY style joint. Price is high compared to similar places - it's not too hard to pay $20 for a pizza. If you like NY style pizza this is probably going to be your best bet, but there are other good pizza options including in Iron Hill (a sit down restaurant), Claymont steak house (thicker crust), and Topios (in Trabant student dining area). The service can be fine but is often very poor (bad experiences by telephone). Despite a number of my friends swearing by Marherita's, my conclusion is that there just isn't great pizza available in Newark - go to Philly or NYC for that.

“Best pizza in the city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2011

Margherita's Pizza has thin New York style pizza. The restaurant itself is nothing special but the pizza is worth the trip. They do serve beer now too. I spent many a day there in my college years.

“Great late night-style pizza joint for anytime of day enjoyment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2011

Reminds me of my late night college days, where I could roll in, grab a slice from the front window of offerings, and be chowing down in a couple minutes. I stopped in to put a stop to a pizza craving and grabbed a pepperoni slice. I haven't had a ton of Delaware pizza, but can definitely say this is the best I've had thus far. A very New York style pizza, the crust was thin and crispy, perfect, just as I like it. A slice with topping is $3.00. Investigating the menu on the way out it looked like a one topping medium was about $12-$12.50. They do it all though, pizzas, stombolis, sandwiches, etc.
