My friends and I were in town for the NASCAR race in Dover. We had some troubles finding the hotel as we were not familiar with the area and there were lots of turns. Luckily, the Courtyard had signs up and we spotted them and were able to find our way.

We got to check in right away (it was about 3pm) and we received the connecting rooms we had requested. The hotel was very nice and appeared new. Both of our rooms were very nice and clean and had refrigerators in them. The beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms were quiet at night.

We had the breakfast buffet the 3 mornings we were there. The food was good, but maybe mix it up a little more--I guess by that point I was sick of eggs and waffles. Pancakes or french toast would have been nice.

The restaurant staff we had were very friendly and accommodating. The front desk staff was good. My only complaint was that when we came back one day all 4 of our keys didn't work (2 keys for the 2 rooms). I figured they had been programmed wrong as I work at a hotel, but the front desk agent gave me the usual "keep away from your credit cards and cell phone" spiel, and I knew all 4 of us didn't have our keys close to our credit cards or phones.

The hotel all in all was a nice place to stay. We would stay there again.

Ended up at this hotel based on reviews (I didn’t want to repeat my previous bad luck in the Newark area). We had a nice large, modern, clean room - -with FIVE pillows on the bed. As a pillow fan this was a huge plus.

Now about that breakfast. I like hotels with some sort of free breakfast for the convenience factor. As long as there is some protein in the form of hard boiled eggs plus come complex carbs in the form of granola or all bran plus raisins, I’m good. So I was a bit bummed to find I didn’t get a free breakfast. Then I found out what I COULD get a fresh cooked omelet to order, plus the granola, plus fresh fruit, plus, plus, plus – it was a quite a nice buffet. While not free, the price was quite reasonable (There was also a cold version for even less.) If I lived in the area, I’d be willing to go back just for breakfast.

“Good Value”

We booked our stay on Priceline. We were pleased with the hotel lobby -- spacious, comfortable chairs, a fireplace, and a free business center. Our room was large with comfortable beds and a good heater/air conditioner. Having stayed in several Courtyard Marriotts on this trip, the room was above average in comparison. Free WIFI! The desk clerks (university students?) were friendly and what they lacked in efficiency, they made up in eagerness to please. I had to wait quite a while to check in and then had to wait in line again after finding that we were given a room that had not been cleaned. The assistant manager was very apologetic and gave us another room, breakfast coupons, then called to ensure the new room was adequate. Parking was free and the hotel appeared to be in a safe location, near the University of Delaware. The hotel was located quite far from our exit, but there were several signs placed on the route to the hotel. Bottom line: We would stay here again.

“Would definitely stay again”

Courtyard by Marriott has come a long way from 20 years ago. This is a very nice hotel. The rooms are large with a large desk and a big comfy chair and ottoman. There is a small terrace. The beds were very comfortable and there were 4 pillows on each of the 2 queen beds. So we didn't need to ask for extra pillows for a change. The front desk was very pleasant. Breakfast was good - definitely worth adding to the room if you are 2 adults and 1 or 2 kids. It will cost more if you pay for it separately. Location is very convienent for Univ of Delaware and downtown Newark. 2 Ethernet cables in the room, so we were able to use both of our laptops to get onto the internet with out any problem.

This is a well maintained hotel partnered with the University of Delaware Hotel and Restaurant program. When classes are in session, students are actively involved in the operation of the hotel. We stay here several times a year and have always found our room to be very clean and exactly as requested in the reservation. The staff is friendly. The hotel in located on the Laird campus of the University which is northwest of the main campus. You need car at this location to have other food choices other than the cafe in the hotel as there are no restaurants within walking distance.

If you like white table cloth Italian food, check out Vita Nova the student run restaurant in the Trabant University Center which is open when classes are in session. Excellent food and service.
