“Great location to celebrate an anniversary!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2010

Our 3rd floor Tower Suite afforded a great view and its patio was perfect for reading from morning to mid-day. Hotel Blue's rooftop pool - 3 1/2 ft. deep - was just right for cooling off on the day we arrived. We enjoyed short walks for excellent evening meals at The Buttery, Kindle, and Beseme. Seafood Joe's gave such a terrific breakfast that we returned another day! The town of Lewes had many interesting shops and museums to explore and a short walk to the bay gave us a quiet way to relax.

However, the following prevent us from giving HOTEL BLUE a 5 star rating:
1. The bathroom tiles seemed "sticky" & our rubber-soled shoes left tell-tale "dirty" outlines.
2. The outside base of the toilet was soiled when we arrived and was not cleaned.
3. The signature "Blue" night light from the wash basins remained unplugged until we discovered the hidden outlet on our 3rd afternoon.
4. By the 2nd day of our 3-night stay, bananas in the lobby's 24 hour fresh fruit bowl began to soften and were not replaced.
5. On the last morning, the coffee machine in the lobby needed servicing @ 7:30 a.m; otherwise, It produced great coffee!

After reading reviews on Trip Advisor there was no other choice for us in Lewes. Hotel Blue, as stated previously is in an excellent location, the rooms are spacious and contemporarily decorated and even though we missed the opportunity to book a harbor-side room, the room we are now staying in has a lovely terrace and a nice view of evergreens. You will not be disappointed at Hotel Blue unless you like alot of noise, kids running amuk, or smelly shabby rooms. If you do, then stay some place ordinary, not Hotel Blue.

If you are in the mood for Mexican and Margarits, try Agave on 2nd Street. You'll find a lively, but intimate dining room, great bartenders and absolutely delicious and fresh Mexican food. Plus, you can't have just one Margarita!

I purchased an overnight stay from "Bidding for Good" auction site so I got something of a value. I have been wanted to visit the hotel since I first learned about it, and looked at their pictures, and the reviews on Trip Advisor. My husband and booked one night just for a brief get-a-way since I have been house bound for about 9 weeks with a broken leg.

The interiors are marvelous and colorful with exciting furniture choices. The suites are very spacious and have all the conveniences one would want, fireplace, refrig, two sinks in bathroom and "drink" sink by the coffee pot and refrigerator. Complimentary coffee and a bowl of fresh fruit is available in the lobby which is full of outstanding modern furniture. There are balconies on the 2nd and 3rd floors with wrought iron furniture. There is a small heated pool on the roof along with another fireplace and conversation area. The art work is modern and adds a lot, as does the luxurious and unusual bedding. The bathroom was huge with a private toilet area, and a separate tub, and walk in shower.

There was a minor issue, their signature "lighted" blue glass sink(one of two) was in need of a new lighting fixture.

A tip: If you choose a room on the marina canal side of the hotel you will be facing a parking lot, street, marine type buildings before the water. We used the balcony very briefly and saw only one other person using theirs. I realize that that is typical, however, the other side (back) of the hotel overlooks what I hope is a permanent wet land and a definitly more private view and if I were lucky enought to go there again I would request the back of the hotel, and the third floor. (I had second floor).

The hotel looks to be a stand alone building in their pictures, but it is actually about 50 percent of a new long three story building. This is in no way a problem but just a surprise to me. Grounds on their end of the building are beautifully landscaped, while the remainder of the grounds are wild and un-landscaped. The hotel is located across the canal from the heart of town, but within walking distance for most, but with my still healing broken leg we took the car.

The hotel room was absolutely beautiful in every aspect. Their location is close to dowtown so you can walk to the shops and restaurants is you desire..which we did.
We sat on the balcony and had our coffee in the morning. Very calm and serene!
We enjoyed every minute of our stay there.

Hotel Blue has a contemporary design and the rates were somewhat reasonable for the size of the room and features. We had a one bedroom suite with fireplace. The bed was very comfortable, having a fireplace was nice, and the bathroom was large for a hotel room in this price range. The room we had was exactly as shown on their website. The view was not the best as there is a parking lot, street lights, and bait shop just across the street. So its not much to look out on. But when laying in bed you can't see that. Two TVs was nice but whenever we turned off one TV the other would automatically turn on a minute later. So we went through this ridiculous exercise of using both remotes, twice, every time we wanted the TVs off. Also the bathroom wouldn't latch closed. I noticed there were a couple other minor items that pointed to the hotel starting to show its age. There is a nice coffee/espresso machine in the lobby but my girlfriend couldn't use it early in the morning because there was no water and nobody manning the front desk before 9 AM. So if you get up early you may be stuck with either the instant coffee in your room or walking 5 minutes to the nearest cafe. Overall, still a nice hotel and I left well rested. Outside of the hotel: There are a host of outdoor activities and parks and the beach is just a short walk from the hotel. Restaurants in the area look nice but the food and sometimes the service leaves much to be desired. Don't go to Lewes expecting a good culinary experience, set your expectations to the quality of bar food and you'll be OK.

We had a great room overlooking canal. Room had a gas fireplace. Flip the switch and you have instant mood. We were interested in the area and had several conversations with the very friendly owners. Looking forward to another stay in the summer when we can use the roof top pool and outside fireplace

Our room was spacious and very comfortable, the staff were very friendly and the hotel is in a great location. It is a short walk to good restaurants and shops, and the beach and state park are nearby. A great place for a long weekend - we will be going back soon!
