“Lovely hotel in a great town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013 via mobile

We spent one night at this great boutique hotel. We were in room 306, facing the canal. The other side of the hotel faces a green space and faces towards the ocean, about 3-4 blocks away. The beach is walk able. The rooms facing the canal have great views of the town and lights at night. The other side may be more private but we loved the view on the balcony towards the canal.
The room was amazing. We had a suite with a living area with a couch, chair and table with two chairs and attached sleeping area, with a clean comfortable bed. The decor was really nice, modern and clean. See pictures. We used the gas fireplace the whole time as it was chilly and rainy. It was great to just flip it on.
You could not hear a thing. The quietest, most private place you could want. There is a long hallway that leads from the door to the main room and you pass the bathroom and kitchen area, which as a coffee maker, fridge and wet bar.
The bathroom is great. Clean white tile, although not my style, was functional and very appealing. Large tub and shower with separate WC room. Liked the glowing sinks.
We really liked this place although there were a few minor maintenance issues which we didn't waste time complaining about, like a loose TP holder and spotty service on one of the Tv's.
The owners were around and very helpful. Good directions and thoughts about where to eat. Donna offered an umbrella, which was thoughtful.
The hotel is adults only and this was a lucky night away from our son. Would not be able to stay in the summer because of the child
Policy and cost. We got a fantastic off season rate, but could not reasonably afford the summer rates.
Highly recommend and we will find a way to
Come back!!

My husand and I stayed here one night over President's Weekend. We usually love large, elegant hotels but decided to try something different. We were not disappointed. The hotel staff was very nice. The room was large and very condo-like. The bed was comfortable as well. Even though it was not open we took a walk upstairs to the fire-pit/pool area. Definately looking forward to returning during the warm weather. Lots of quaint little shops and restaurants right in walking distance and not even 5 minutes from the Ferry. We would recommend this hotel for sure.

My wife and I wanted a getaway over the 3-day President's day weekend. We were quite familiar with Lewes, but mostly visited on day-trips. What attracted us to Hotel Blue was a fireplace in every room. It is very well-located, near the canal and only a few minutes walk to the "downtown" such as it is. It is also a few minutes drive to the bay, and perhaps a 10 minute drive to Cape Henlopen State Park (though we didn't use it). The decor is modern, and very inviting. The staff was friendly enough. The suite was immaculate and well-appointed. There were a number of little things that prevent me from rating it excellent. The layout of the suite, with the bathroom down the hall from the bedroom was a little inconvenient. The bed was not especially comfortable though good enough, and it was noisy. The microwave seemed to be overheating -- something would have a burnt smell. The water in the sink near the microwave didn't run without causing the pipes to make a horrible pounding noise. The heating was not even, the bathroom was cold. The boss declined to show us other rooms (so we could see what might be available on a return trip) after people had checked out and new ones had not yet checked in -- too busy I guess. Nevertheless, we greatly enjoyed our stay, and would consider a return visit.

What a great find in Lewes, DE. My wife and I were traveling from NH to VA and had just gotten off the Cape May Ferry. We decided to stay overnight in Lewes and discovered this wonderful Hotel. The room was the best hotel room we have ever stayed in. The shops and restaurants are a short 5 minute walk away. Will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Any room is a great room.

A last minute booking for a wonderful couples retreat. Bringing in the New Year overlooking the quaint town of Lewes, sipping the hotel surprise gift bottle of bubbly, and enjoying the dropping of the illuminated anchor from the town's prize lightship, the Overfall, was an absolute delight. The Hotel staff is very welcoming and friendly. Once you cross the Hotel Blue threshold you get this great feeling about the place from its in-room cozy fireplace to its colorful, warm decor and comfortable bed. This is our third stay at this hotel and we highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the rat race and enjoy some time together.

Room Tip: The front rooms provide you a view of the town. The rear rooms overlook trees and open space.

This is a quaint little hotel perfectly situated within walking distance of shops and the beach. The staff was nice and the room well aportioned and very clean. All rooms have queen size beds but they are VERY hard. I tossed and turned all night because I felt like I was sleeping on a board. I contemplated moving to the couch but there weren't extra blankets. Moving would have meant truly stealing the covers from my partner. I personally won't stay here again but it had nothing to do with the hotel, staff or location. I just need a bed that's less brick and more feather.

Hotel Blue does not disappoint--and this was our 5th annual (birthday) visit. The warm welcome, instant presentation of room keys, the glowing fire in the lobby fireplace and the always available fresh fruit/fresh HOT coffee set a relaxed vibe. Rooms are an absolute OASIS: large and clean, ours with a gas fireplace, comfortable seating area with a calming view/balcony, cozy sleeping alcove, and spa-like bathroom. A short walk (literally 5 minutes) across the channel to downtown Historic Lewes offers wonderful dining and shopping options. Or, take a 10 minute walk to the beach. Thanks HB for creating an inviting, comfortable and private hide-away! See you next year!

Room Tip: Rooms not overlooking canal are quieter. In-room microwave/fridge.
