My wife and I wanted a getaway over the 3-day President's day weekend. We were quite familiar with Lewes, but mostly visited on day-trips. What attracted us to Hotel Blue was a fireplace in every room. It is very well-located, near the canal and only a few minutes walk to the "downtown" such as it is. It is also a few minutes drive to the bay, and perhaps a 10 minute drive to Cape Henlopen State Park (though we didn't use it). The decor is modern, and very inviting. The staff was friendly enough. The suite was immaculate and well-appointed. There were a number of little things that prevent me from rating it excellent. The layout of the suite, with the bathroom down the hall from the bedroom was a little inconvenient. The bed was not especially comfortable though good enough, and it was noisy. The microwave seemed to be overheating -- something would have a burnt smell. The water in the sink near the microwave didn't run without causing the pipes to make a horrible pounding noise. The heating was not even, the bathroom was cold. The boss declined to show us other rooms (so we could see what might be available on a return trip) after people had checked out and new ones had not yet checked in -- too busy I guess. Nevertheless, we greatly enjoyed our stay, and would consider a return visit.
