Whilst on our road trip around the east coast and enroute to Cape May we picked up a leaflet for the ferry. We are always trying to find ways to really get the most out of our road trips in the USA and the chance to hop across on the ferry from New Jersey to Delaware, visit historic Lewes and get a little shopping included just couldn't be turned down.
We parked up in the lot on the Cape May sound and wandered into the super ferry terminal to purchase our tickets, we weren't completely sure what we needed and we didn't need to worry because the ladies at the ticket desk were fabulous, friendly, funny and informative. They told us everything we needed to know and we were off!
The ferries each way were great and on time, we got to see some dolphins but no whales sadly, the cafes were fine and the choice of seating options meant we could be inside or outside as the mood took us.
Once in Delaware, we used the bus service to visit historic Lewes and then onto the shopping mall and back. It was so easy to hop on and off the buses, using the timetable provided by the super helpful bus driver when we first got on the bus at the Ferry terminal.
Whilst it was a flying trip to Delaware, it was a great way to spend a day and see the other side of the Bay! If you have a day to spare and the inclination then don't miss the ferry, just leave your car and enjoy!
