The room numbers taped to the wall should have convinced me to turn and run to the Hampton Inn next door.
Strong point(s) - parking, near main highway, room size, bed comfort.
Weak point(s) - competency of management, internet connection complexity, road noise, hall noise, elevator noise, ice machine noise, hallway lighting, bathroom linen, shower drainage, work desk size, low level of room lighting (bring your own bulbs if you want to read at night).
Don't let the smiling but inexperienced face at check-in fool you. This hotel has fatal senior management flaws. The scary part is they think a blue coat and a smile will cure anything. It's a Motel 6 experience at Sheraton rack rates.
This is one noisey hotel from their intercoms to the guests. The hotel management is clueless as to how to run such a facility. Too much management presence during the morning and little afterwards. This criticism is specifically towards the management and not towards the lower level employees who are helpful but clearly untrained i.e. transferring twelve loud intoxicated guests from one floor to another at 1:30 AM (it was got ugly when rudely awakend guests shouted their displeasure).
This is an event hotel. People come here to celebrate graduation, marriage, hold wakes, race track events, etc. all of which involve alcohol and noise. Simply put, it's a hotel where people come to get plastered and spend the night avoiding a DWI. The furnishings show evidence of physical abuse. If this is your cup of tea this Sheraton is your place for $138/night along with, at no charge, a refurbishment crew starting at 7:00 AM.
If you like toweling off after a shower while stainding in your own shower water and stil feel like you are wet because the towels have a high percentage of non-absorbent polymer fiber (longer lasting) and less of that pesky cotton that dries quickly (wears quicker) this is your place. The hotel is a bean counter's work of art. On the plus side the hotel does have a security presence that really earns its keep. The tolerance of poorly behaved lound, obnoxious guests ensure it's not a place for the tourist or business traveler.
This place is a case study in how not to run a hotel. If I were Sheraton I would pull the franchise at the end of the month. If I were a hotel competing with Sheraton I would sleep easier knowing this hotel is driving busines to me and all I have done is not be a Sheraton.
