“Not Crazy about this resort”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

We stayed here for 2 nights and i have to stay i will not come back here again.
The hotel is old and all of the furniture and appliances are so old and need to be updated badly.
The pool was the only good thing about this resort, our son loves to swim so it was fun for him.
The bed was so small and uncomfortable ,the bathroom plumbing system was bad because it smelled the whole time yuck.
This resort seriously needs to be updated !

Good Morning CSarahLim. Thank you for making the time to provide a review of your stay in July with us at Hawaii a Club Bali Resort. Your observations are very valuable to us and whilst of course we are disappointed that you found the room furnishings to be run down and experienced a problem with the drain, it is only through such candid feed back that we can work to improve our services and facilities.

The property is only 3 years old however it has been a very very busy three years and yes the rooms furnishing has been in need of some improvements. You will be pleased to know that as a part of our on going management programs, almost all rooms have recently received what we classify as a soft renovation, refinishing furniture painting etc. Additional to that, we are in the process of changing the Atrium roof as we found that during the wet season, the existing roof produced too much noise making it uncomfortable for all.
On the smell from the drain, this issue sometimes happens if a drain has been left dry for some time and generally is quite easily addressed. This has been taken up with the property General Manager to ensure that room inspections and preventative measures are improved to prevent such issues effecting our guests

I am sincerely sorry that you found the property what not up to your liking however I am sure that should you choose to return, you will find the stay much better due to the ongoing improvements.

Thanks once again and Regards

When we booked this location, the hotel information said they were 90 minutes from the airport, but we were disappointed that it took us five hours to get there, mostly due to major car-stopping road construction through an industrial zone. We originally tried to book a driver through the hotel, but the person on the phone didn't speak enough English to help us, and unfortunately we don't speak Bahasan. So we ended up booking a driver through the airport who obviously wasn't aware of the construction zone or the best way to get there. It was dark by the time we arrived. The resort is quite remote, but once you get there, it's peaceful. It doesn't have sandy white beaches with girls in bikinis, but the restaurant does have a good view over the water. Every day we especially enjoyed choosing from their big variety of fresh fruit juices. They were all delicious. If you want to enjoy a glass of wine with the sunset, however, this isn't the place to go. We were surprised to discover they didn't have any wine on site. We tried numerous spa services. The prices were quite reasonable, and in line with the service provided. The staff was especially friendly and smiled even when we couldn't understand each other. Some people spoke some English, but several didn't so sometimes we had difficulty communicating to place an order and get what we really wanted, but other times it was easy. The food was quite good at the resort, but there wasn't a very big selection, and they ran out of things at times. We went during slow season (October) and there were very few people at the resort. When we asked for advice, the staff suggested we try the seafood restaurant across the street, but I'll just say in a polite way that it turned out to be a bad idea and we didn't eat anything else outside the resort the rest of the week. It also discouraged us from venturing offsite, and I'm sure that because of this we missed out on some other interesting beaches and sites nearby that we got to see the day we left because we were driving in the daylight, and ended up seeing some of the things we missed out on. The few tours they offered seemed to be a bit overpriced and quite a distance away. I wish they would have had suggested that we try some of the local beaches that were just a few kilometers away.Overall it was a great glimpse of Indonesia. It felt a bit like a religious or health spa retreat. We ended up leaving one day early and paying for one extra hotel night in Jakarta just to be sure that we didn't get caught in traffic and miss our flight. When we left the resort at the end of the week, we went a different route and it didn't take as long. If you speak the language and know what to expect from the culture, you could probably have a nice time here, especially with children, but we were caught off guard by several things that were different from what we've experienced at other RCI resorts throughout the world.

Good Morning DoctorLorraine, Thank you for making time to share about your recent stay with us in our Anyer property, Hawaii a Club Bali Resort. I am so sorry for the confusion you felt as a result of the communication difficulty during the stay. The location, Anyer is best described as a work in progress as a general tourism destination and whilst it offers some great site seeing options such as Ujang Kulong National Park & Krakatau, the local community is very new to the needs of the foreign tourist. As a company standard, we prioritize the employment of people from the immediate local communities and provide training and development programs to work to develop their skills in languages along with specific job function training. This however takes some time and does lead to mixed results as you have experienced.
I have discussed your feed back with the property General Manager as well as our Training Development Consultant.

Thank you once again for sharing this feed back and we look forward to welcoming you to one of our other Club Bali Resorts in the future

Regards

we had a really good time there; the location is perfect to explore the beaches around, Krakatau Island and the Ujung Kulon Nationalpark (ask the managers e.g. Mr Hentung Lukman for individual tour arrangements) and enjoy the wonderful remote Ressort with all the nice facilities (pool, spa, massage, motobike rent (thanks to Annita for guiding me for half a day around the area); etc); the restaurant in the hotel is fantastic (greetings to the Food Manager Mr Hentung Lukman); recommendations for the Saturday night Hula Hawai BBQ with live music and dance; the rooms are big and fully equipped (even with a nice kitchen; so become your own Chef); cleanness of our bathroom is the only minus (for this hotel price it is not okay; please solve the problem); breakfast is great, but not included in the room price; the staff is wonderful nice, helpful, but sometimes not safe in English; the managers are great fun; the hotel is worth every cent (when the cleanness of the bathrooms is given); we enjoyed our time there and on our 4-days individual Ujung Kulon tour (thanks again to Mr Hentung Lukman and the crew for joining us and make this real nice trip possible); the 1-day tour to Krakatau was also fantastic (evolution at it's best; a more qualified guide should be ask if you are really interested into natural sciences background informations); remember one thing: there is not a direct sandy beach at the hotel, but just 150m next to the hotel; ask for a free beach shuttle when you don't like to walk; at all full recommendation

Dear LivingForTheFunkOfIt. It is great to hear that you not only had a great time during your Java holiday but that your enjoyed so much, using our resort as your base for exploring the amazing area around Anyer. Maybe next time you visit, you will have the time to also travel to the Badui Tribal areas not too far from the hotel. Thanks for making time to share about your stay and I am very sorry that you found the cleanliness to be a little lacking. We take great pride in what we are aiming to achieve in developing a full service resort in the Anyer area and we are working to offer an international standard property. I have discussed your feedback with our property General Manager and he is taking action to ensure it is corrected.

Thanks once again for letting us know about the stay and we look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back during your next trip to Indonesia

This is our 4th time stay at Club Bali Hawaii Resort. We always love the hotel. Especially if you bring a large family for vacation. This time we stayed at 2 bedrooms Deluxe. (normally we stayed at 1 bedroom apartment) With our previous experience, we booked the hotel a month before the departure date. Because they often fully booked if you tend to reserved in a week time.

Anyway, we love the complete amenities for the hotel including kitchenette, with 4 queen size beds plus 2 queen size sofa bed, you can seriously fill in the apartment up to 12 adults!

I tell you why this is a good hotel if you bring children. It got 5 swimming pools with water-slides, flying fox + high rope adventure, bicycling experience and of course also the water sport adventure such as banana boat and jet ski!!!
They also have a 'hula dance class' for your children in the children play room area.

The downside was, since the hotel is very busy, sometime the staff is running out of people to standby around the hotel area. And often not enough towel to distribute or amenities like tissue or napkin for the kitchen unless we call the reception to request one. One time we have to wait almost 30 minutes to get a knife when we would like to prepare dinner. it happened on the first day we checked-in. I would like to suggest to the management of the hotel to take a carefully look on this.

But the overall experience is pretty much the same. We always love staying there when we have a planned to go to Anyer and we will definitely go back.

Room Tip: Good room always been the one with pool view or ocean view And the best level is the 3rd floor.

Dear MelieAD, wow it is great to hear that our resort is your family's favorite resort in Anyer. The staff and management have worked hard over the last few years to build up on the properties range of services and facilities and getting such positive feed back from a regular guest really makes us very proud. Your point about the need to boost up things during the busy periods is very well noted and I have discussed this in detail with the property General Manager who I am sure will act quickly to improve on things.

Thanks once again for making time to share your experiences through TripAdvisor and we look forward to welcoming you back soon

We stayed in Hawaii around New Year 2012. We did not buy a hotel voucher from travel and just directly checked in to the hotel. The rate for a studio room was around IDR 1.5 million (USD 160) with no breakfast. We spent a wonderful time there and our kids just loved it.

The PROs:
- a new great hotel in Anyer area, so sure the building is clean and comfortable
- you got beach and waterpark in one package, you kids will love it!
- the drink water dispenser was abundance! noway to dehydrate
- the kitchen was very useful, completed with cooking utensils and tableware
- the beach was small but very private
- no extra bed needed. the room has extra-bed already which can load 4 people

The CONTs:
- no breakfast for IDR 1.5 million charge!
- the staffs were not so helpful in explaining what includes (or excludes) in the rate
- very far from restaurant and stores
- the parking area was across the hotel area, valet was provided, but it is an extra effort to get to your car
- the bathroom was too small and difficult to access
- needed to queue and waited a bit long for the valet car during check out time
- far from everywhere, so better just totally stay and enjoy the hotel

TIPS:
- bring a lot of food to cook!
- bring whatever you need, the hotel is far from store and everything
- unload all your stuffs while checking in, so you don't need to get back to your car

Room Tip: my room was in ground floor just in front of the waterpark so I could watch and monitor our kids fro...

Dear VPLHater

Thank you for making time to give such a detailed and balanced account of your stay with us over the New Years Period. Its sounds like overall you had a great time and that of course is very pleasing but you have also raised a few concerns and I would like to offer our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience these issues may have caused. It was my first and really beautiful holiday.... Hotel is not busy (only at the weekend when children with parents arrive) and nice and quiet, with beautiful nature around and with nice and always smiling personal. I really loved it. And hotel spa too, nice and pleasant ladies there.... The weather was great, only one and half day was raining in two weeks time (been there in November 2011) It was the right choice for me, as i like quiet and relax... and also very green around the hotel, and no insect untill dark

Room Tip: well,...president apartman, how you can only see in pictures here, is very big, i have seen it... i...

We have planned a trip with my family to the Krakatau in April and we have to stay one night in some hotels in Carita beach somewhere, being difficult to judge on the internet etc...we decided with my wife to just go there and see for ourselfs the area.
We left Jakarta one morning and drove to Cilegon without too many headache, then we found a completly demolished road for about 20kms, whoever runs that province should be ashamed leaving that road in such a state, enormous deep pot holes full of water so you don't really know whether your car is going to make it any further or not !
We had booked a suit in Mutiara Carita, went there and left because of the poor state of maintenance of the place.
We ended up in Hawai Club Bali resort, we were most welcome and asked to see three different rooms, we took a room with two bedrooms in the front with view on the sea.
First the AC's filters, three of them were completly blocked obviously never cleaned, I took them out and cleaned them up. The position of the bedrooms are kind of funny, the main bedroom has a windows facing the hotel corridor where everybody passes by....it is quite dark in there with insufficient lighting, the other bedroom has only one window up the wall also facing the hotel corridor . The bathroom is very narrow, wet and dark. The toilet in between the bedroom was stinking... very bad. Main sitting room area not to bad. Balcony with view on the Krakatau. We had lunch/breakfast and dinner in the resto, it was standard with the other hotel in the area. Good friendly crew and expat owner/manager.
WIFI and good TV chanels in the rooms.
The place needs good follow up on maintenance otherwise it will fall apart very fast!
