“Great View, Nice Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2009

Just spent 3 nights at The Bay Resort. It is not a resort but it is a CLEAN, pleasant motel with small pool & bright rooms with comfy beds. We had bay view room which I highly recommend - private balcony with 2 chairs & small table. Enjoyed our breakfasts there watching the gulls on the pier & water. Enjoyed pretty sunset over bay one night.
Front desk staff were friendly, grounds nicely kept (pretty flowers) & got lots of fresh towels daily.

Kitchette equipped with basics including dishes, glasses, etc. for 4, coffeemaker, small fridge, stove/oven, MW, etc. - even dish detergent & dish towel. Bathroom was very basic & small (older motel) and no shampoo provided (just soap).

Short walk to beach. Overall, great for a beach weekend & beatiful view if you opt for for bay view room!

We have been coming to the Bay Resort every September since 2005 and twice in 2006. With another couple and just with my husband. We brought our grand children with us once and they loved it. Everybody there is so nice and friendly . We will be back again this September and for many years to come. The rooms are a nice size. The kitchen area is just right, enough room to cook a full meal if you want to. Very clean.

1. Driving up to the Bay Resort - my heart sunk as I could not believe I would have to spend the weekend here. I don't know why the word 'resort' was used in the name as it's a parking lot with an old motel-style 3 story building - very depressing

2. Upon entering my room I smelled moldy rugs, musty bedding and was overwhelmed by the amount of mildew growing in the shower

3. The mattress was hard and brick-like and from how filthy the room was it pained me to sleep on it

Overall - I don't get why anyone would ever rate this as an acceptable place to stay - FOUL - GROSS - FILTHY - these are all fair adjectives to describe this place.

I recently stayed one night at the Bay Resort. I got a swiming pool view room for 79 USD+tax, which seems pretty fair.

Actually, it is more a motel than a resort (but almost every hotels in Dewey Beach or Rehoboth Beach are motels).
The motel is overlooking a small street, so you do not have the noise from the highway. It is on a very pleasant place, shoring the lake. It might take 5 minutes to reach the beach.
Many restaurants and bars at walking distance.

The rooms a large, not very trendy but comfortable and clean. Free wifi internet is available.
The staff was very nice and helpful.

In the overall, though it is not the more exciting hotel in the world, it definitively remains a good place to stay while visiting the Deleware sea side.

SHAME ON YOU PARENTS THAT YOU DON'T TEACH YOUR COLLEGE KIDS GOOD BEHAVIOR! What do they do at school??
Pros: Nearby National Seashore Park was nice for beaching. Bayside room had a wonderful view and with the air conditioning humming, quiet. Pier off shallow water was sweet. Parking was easy. Management was conscientious and homey. Security guards were vigilant and no-nonsense. Police officer included hotel on beat with special attention.
Cons: Police officer included hotel on beat with special attention because IT'S NECESSARY! When I went to front desk to get a blanket, the officer was talking about how he was struck by a wild kid! He and the management agreed, "It's going to be ANOTHER one of THOSE nights!" When we went to the nice pool, there were literally HUNDREDS of beer cans everywhere at 5:30 PM. One room opened onto the pool patio and 20-30 college kids streamed in and out to loud music --which the management asked that they turn down and they didn't. They played beer pong and slugged from a huge bottle of whiskey. In broad daylight, while my kids ran excitedly on the pier, a young woman straddled her sitting boyfriend on the little sandy cove and, let me just say, I started yelling for my kids to go inside. As we headed up the stairs, a drunk Phillies fan lurched in our path and another guy stopped my 10 year old and demanded that he greet his towel-clad girlfriend. And later, as my husband and I sat on the balcony to admire the view while the kids fall asleep, a couple scampered down the pier not caring we were there and a few minutes later a security guard shined his flashlight on them, and let's just say an R-rated scene was cut short. Earlier, when we walked toward the strip for dinner, on our street we passed houses that held huge groups of wild kids. The nearby church had a house across the street with a HUGE black flag and a naked man on it. IT IS A BAD IDEA TO LET YOUR KIDS OF ANY AGE COME HERE.

We spent 3 nights at the Bay Resort and would have stayed longer if the weather had co-operated. Staff was extremely helpful and very pleasant - it's location on the bay front was lovely and quiet and centrally located. Our room was very clean and the beds were comfy - bathroom is tiny but not a problem at all. Kitchenette was well supplied and the iron and ironing board was a nice amenity at the shore. Nice pool area but the weather was too cool for us to even consider it. My only complaint with the area (not the hotel) was that there seems to be limited activity for those of us over 50 who like to have fun at night - everything seemed to be targeted at the under 30 crowd.

The Bay Resort was a great find and we had a very pleasant few days there.

Although we go to Dewey every year, we had not been familiar with The Bay Resort. What a pleasant surpise to pull up to a motel that was in a quiet location with a great view of the bay.
Sunsets were amazing! Loved watching the birds too. We were able to walk to all the shops/restaurants. It was great to be there off season, although a lot of places were closed, there was enough to keep us occupied. The pool was clean and it was hot enough to go to the beach a few days during our trip. Worth a return trip!
