“A great quiet place for a family beach vacation”

This is a wonderful family-friendly beach town. Very quiet and clean. June July and August are the busiest months and the beach gets packed once the schools are closed. Be aware that not much is open throughout much of the off-season. We have been here in May, the week before Memorial Day, and had difficulty finding shops and restaurants that were open. Even so, they start charging for parking in early May. (25 cents per 10 minutes).

“Great Labor Day Weekend Trip”

Well, Labor Day weekend is when the crowds have already gone home and the weather is still perfect for a vacation at the beach.

Great condo in Sea Colony on the west side called Bethany Beach Bungalow.

We arrived post-Hurricane Ernesto and surveyed the damage on the beach - much more erosion, shattered and scattered beach steps and a crashing surf.

The weather warmed up on Sunday and Monday and we hit the beach for digging holes, building castles, finding shells and playing in the ocean.

Grilled steaks, corn on the cob, big garden salad and lots of wine for dinner.

Walked the boardwalk, browsed the shops, caramel popcorn at Fishers popcorn, sloppy cheesesteaks at Surfs Up and Dickeys frozen custard.

Great mexican food at the Cactus Cafe on Rte 54 in Selbyville, just inside Fenwick Island.
