We stayed at Sea Colony 2 years in a row (August 2005 and August 2006). I was there with my extended family so we rented 3 or 4 units.
Yes, the units have some amount of wear and tear, but when I'm staying there with my little kids, I appreciate being able to come in and flop down on the couch without worrying about whether everyone has gotten all the sand off their feet.

We loved the facilities - the pools, tennis, gym - and the proximity to golf, biking, Rehoboth and Ocean City.

The only thing that bugged us was the traffic getting there and getting out!

Sea Colony is patrolled by private security and is safe for kids to walk around. It has many private pools as well as shuttles to the beach. If you have kids you'll love Bethany Beach. For those that need more excitment OC is about 20 minutes away.

We've been going down to Bethany Beach for over 10 years and in the last year or two it appears as though Sea Colony is putting alot of money back into the facilites. The ocean front walkway and the pools by Geogretowne house were redone and the indoor pool at Edgewater has been totally redone. I've noticed that the building South of Edgewater (Georgetowne, Harbour, and Island) seem to be the better buildings. It appears as though the owners there are much better about making sure the places are in good shape and have invested money to update and keep the buildings current. We actually try to stay in Georgetowne House. I like the dolphin water fountains that they put in the courtyard and they added a very nice lobby. The owners that I have met there seem very friendly and willing to suggest restaurants.

Our family has stayed at Sea Colony for over 20 years and we keep going back because we love the area, but unfortunately each new condo rental is a roll of the dice as to whether or not it will be worth the pricey rental fees. We almost always stay in a Platinum rated unit and there doesn't seem to be any uniform standard for each rating. For what we pay, we could stay at a Ritz Carlton and not worry about cooking or cleaning, but we do love the area so we keep going back. I think for what people pay, ResortQuest should be more customer service oriented, and I also wish there was a website that rated each unit with tenant comments. Maybe that would raise the overall standard of the accomodations. I do have to say that overall, we have had generally good experiences, but the occasional negative one is unfortunate given the rates (up to $538.00 per night for prime '06 summer season)
