“Good food with casual but upscale vibe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

Arrived Friday night and were pleased to be able to be seated right away. Sits on the main road but inside looks over the water in back with a nice ambiance. Food was creative but not crazy. Good selection of seafood, salads, desserts. No hassle about splitting a dish. Halibut came with a tasty crab sauce and greens but could have used a side of orzo- very light. Fish stew was delicious with large lobster pieces, salads were fresh and interesting. Volume is quite loud. Service is prompt and pleasant. Key lime pie was tart and classic. Would be happy to return.

“Great Ambiance and Food and Better the Second Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

I have driven by this "dive" 30 times. OK don't judge a book by its cover. It looks like a seafood shack in the middle of nowhere. Hidden inside is a great restaurant with great views. Service is fantastic..Clearly a team approach. Trish was attentive and helpful. Started with shredded brussel sprouts. A great cold app that is more of a salad. Cheese and nuts round it out. Main course two very large crab cakes--lots of lump meat. Moist and flavorful.Served with really tasty fries with bay seasoning. My guest ordered the seafood stew and she loved the shellfish and fish in it. She thought the sauce was a bit spicy. The waitress seemed genuinely interested in the feedback and said she would tell the chef. The dining room is small but has great views of the bay. Great for sunset. It was also 1/2 price wine night which was nice. Will gladly return again in my many trips to OC. Ranks with Coins as to the crab cakes but wins easily on the sides and appetizers and atmosphere. A welcome addition to my best of the best in the OC area.

I came back a couple months later. Thought my first visit may have been based on lower expectations. Second time was even better. Started with the cheese board--manchego with nuts and honey (with cracked pepper). Also split a Ceasar salad. Not drenched in drressing. Light and fresh. Softshell crabs for dinner. Moist and tender and fried perfectly. Served with a great vegetable combo--roasted. Guest had the haddock. Light and delicious. We added the dirty brussel sprouts with bacon and a dijon taste. Faantastic. Brownie sundae (fresh, hot brownie) topped it off. View is great. Service is great. A real winner!!!!!

“Lovely evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2014

This was our first time dining at the Blue Coast and it was wonderful. The dining room is open and airy with beautiful views; watching the sun go down was a treat. We ordered PEI mussels and smoked trout dip as starters. The dip was good but our palates were looking for something with a bit more smokiness. The mussels were plentiful, delicious and served in the most amazing broth. Our entrees, seared Tuna and fried Oysters, were delicious as well. Service was prompt and attentive without feeling as though someone was hovering over us. If you haven't been there already, treat yourself to an amazing meal at the Blue Coast.

“Dinner at the Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

Dinner at Bluecoast is always consistent with both food and drink. Often crowded on weekends and in season, but there is always room on the porch or at the bar, for a drink while you wait. Dinning area is noise, but pleasant, so doing go there is you are looking for intimate dinning and soft conversation. Menu does not change much, but what is offered is very good. Situated on the northeast end of the Salt Pond, there are great view opportunities of sunsets. Unfortunately, because of the ground floor setting, views (although they advertise beautiful sunsets.) of the water are obscured by the adjoining marsh. It is a shame that there is no outdoor upper deck dining, as this would afford excellent views. All in all, an enjoyable place to dine at the beach.

“Beautiful view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2014

We have eaten here before and loved it, so we decided to stop by for the $19 3-course Sunday supper. Be aware that you have 1 choice for appetizer (we had Cesar salad), 2 choices for entree (we had ribs and fried catfish), and 1 choice for dessert (ice cream). The fish was creative and delicious...I'm glad I got it. The ribs were not quite filling enough for my meat-loving husband. They served a half rack of baby backs.

Our server was prompt, the view is always fantastic, and we enjoyed our meal. We decided, however that Off the Hook's 3-course meal on Fridays for $25 is a much better deal since you can choose anything from the menu. We would rather pay the $6 difference.

We will definitely be back to Bluecoast for dinner on a regular night, though. Their food and views are hard to beat!
