“The worst burger in the world”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

Nothing but a slab of grease between two buns. Nothing but greasy burgers and greasy fries. I would not recommend eating there unless you want to have a heart attack.

“Closest burger place to Checkers/ Rallys.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

People in most parts of Delaware are not lucky enough to experience Checkers. Most Checkers are in the Deep South, not near Glasgow Delaware. Rejoice Glasgow there is Jake's. Jake's is about the halfway point between Glasgow and Bear on the westbound side of Route 40 (Pulaski Highway.) Prices are a little high but pile on the toppings (we tried x-tra lettuce, fried onions, cheese, peppers, and bbq sauce.) There are coupons which are available to drop the price a little. As good as Checkers, but the prices are higher.

“GREAT burgers, shakes and fries..Best burgers in town!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2009

My husband and I have visited many of the local Jake's locations (new castle, bear, elsmere, dover, and newark). The Bear location is fairly new. So, the inside is nice and clean. It has about 20 tables inside and 2 large picnic tables outside (perfect for those summer days). You order at the counter, are given your ticket #, and then have a seat. Once your number is called, you pick it up at the window...which is usually less than 10 minutes..FAST!

We visited this Jakes location recently on 2-15-09. I ordered a Jake Jr. with cheese and french fries. I also got a regular soft drink (pepsi products here) and a chocolate milk shake. When you order your burger..make sure to pick which size. A junior is one pattie, but you can get 2 or 3 patties if you like. The hamburger here is "fresh, not frozen"...their claim to fame! And a junior with cheese runs around $3.00, which isnt bad. You get your selection of condiments here (pickes, ketchup, mustard, onions, lettuce, mayo, bbq sauce, relish and peppers)...just order them when you order the burger..they put them on in the kitchen for you. You can also get chili, bacon, cheese, mushrooms or buffalo sauce for an additional charge. The burgers are really good...not overdone (tough) & not raw (red on the inside). They are perfect!! They are the best burgers in town. If I'm in the mood for a burger...this is hands down my choice for food.

The fries are pretty good too. They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. One order is enough for me and my husband to share & are resonably priced at $1.90 an order. They have vinegar on the table if you like vinegar on your fries. They also have ketchup on the tables. Of course you can get cheese fries or chili cheese fries at an additional cost. I just get them plain...and they are tasty.

My husband loves their Milkshakes. Says they are the best! They always advertise the MOM..milkshake of the month...which can be anything from Mango to Orange Cremesicle to Raspberry. We always get chocolate and it is pretty good. I havent tried any of the MOM flavors, but I would recommend the chocolate! Milkshakes run around $3.85...for one handspun in a metal milkshake cup.

If you are in the area & are searching for the perfect burger..search no further! Jakes is the "Best Burger Under the Bun". The fries and milkshakes are pretty good too!

Note: If you are looking for something other than red meat or fries..they also serve salads, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese, BLT, or a condiment sandwich.
