Description: The Willimantic Brewing Company/Main Street Café is a living landmark restaurant and pub brewery located in Willimantic, in the heart of rural northeastern Connecticut. Our original Main Street Café was founded in 1991, and began operations as a small deli in the old Capitol Theatre building on Main Street in Willimantic, CT. Occupying both the lobby and concession area of the theatre, seating was limited to 50 people. After 3 years we were bursting at the seams and made the move to 877 Main Street, another historic building. There we expanded to a full service restaurant and featured American craft-brewed beers and an extensive menu. One more move was in the cards for us, and we made yet another trek down Main Street to our home in the current granite and limestone 1909 U.S. Post Office Building.

“Yummy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

Great selection of beer. Really enjoyed my Two Road Worker's Comp Saison as well as the baked onion-ale soup and beer-tap beef sandwich. Went around lunch time on Saturday, parking lot was crowded but no wait. Crowd was mostly family/couples. Unique atmosphere, good food and the beer was very reasonably priced. Will return next time I'm in the area.

“Good food but plan to wait”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012 via mobile

Excellent food and huge menu. Range goes from apps and pub food to full dinners. Beer choices are huge-if you like to sample unique beer this place is it. Problem is our wait time of 30 minutes turned into 55 minutes and we waited over an hour to get our dinner served. Waiter said the dinner orders for the function room went in the same time as our order causing the delay. If they have functions on Saturdays, they should be able to handle the load. I recommend reservations.

“Great Casual Bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

This place not only has about 10 beers they brew themselves, but they also bring in a ton of local guest brews. They beer menu is eclectic and huge...do yourself a favor and try the sampler, which allows five different 4oz beers. I typically stay to their smaller pub food and away from the entree's...try the wings or nachos, you will not be dissapointed. Just be aware that this place is very popular and can get extremely busy.

“Diamond in the rough”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012 via mobile

Willimantic is not known as a hot spot for cuisine or a cool place to hang out but this place has both. Dinner here with my family (son goes to UCONN) and they have an extensive menu that seemed to please the entire family. Hand crafted Beer, pizza, nachos and chicken tenders all hit the mark. The restaurant is an old Post Office which adds to the charm.

“Great Beer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

This is one of my favorite restaurants for a combination of beer and bar food. The fresh beer is very, very good, with a wide variety. They keep a beer on tap for about a month, so the great beers run out early, but don't' worry, you can always get a pint. There are a good number of guest beers also, but I concentrate on the home brew.

The menu is very eclectic, from a great nacho plate to full menu items. We usually stay on the bar menu and concentrate on the nacho's, the sliders or the veggie chili.

The dining room is a high volume converted post office lobby. It is neat, but very noisy. The bar is always crowded.

This is a regular stop on are dining out agenda. You won't be disappointed.
